Hey guys ive heard from a few people that some people are putting 4.11 diff gears from nissan pintaras. Im woundering if this is true and if it will fit my VY v6??
Ive heard that you can in non IRS car but not sure on urs...
i would imagine only solid axle diffs will suit it
i always thought the gears from live axel and IRS were ust a swap over? im pretty sure the centre's dont change over but the gears do?
but didnt the vt's+ have a different diff then the vl-vs? so it might not fit?
not a 100% ask someone like airstrike, he knows his stuff :P
Whoa, she'd take off like a scalded cat with that ratio! Not much top end mind...Interesting and handy information if you can get a relatively cheap set of gears from some unloved and unwanted car to fit instead of spending a fortune on aftermarket ones.
Years ago in Street Machine magazine, a guy wrote in to KB's tech page, saying he had an XY Falcon with a worked 351 Clevo, four speed top loader, and some other stuff done to it. He was rebuilding the 9" diff, and a mate of his had a "cheap" set of unwanted Zoom gears for the diff from an unfinished drag car project, in 6.5:1 ratio! He wanted to know if they were a good choice for the street! KB prompty told him yep, your car will accelerate off the line like a rocket, if you can get traction with that ratio, but a simple calculation showed that with that diff, gearbox, and the quoted wheel size, at 100 km/hr, the poor old Clevo will be doing 6500 rpm!
I'd love to have seen that one...
unfortunatly no. VK/VL(some 2 spider gear centers with 25spline axles) and VN to VT s1 had the BW78 from VT s2 they fitted the larger BW80 which has a larger crown wheel and pinion set. the diff from the pintara will suit any car fitted with the BW78 live rear axle and IRS. you will note the earlier BW78 had a standard ratio of 3.08 and bigger ratios like 3.45 the later BW80 has a standard ratio of 3.07 (auto) with other ratios like 3.46 (manual)
