My old key's battery was dying so I replaced the key today, When I started the car for the first time the Check Engine Light was on.
I turned the car off then on again and the CEL did not come back on again, I have tested it a few times and no CEL.
Also I have checked the error codes and there is nothing logged, It flashes 12 only which means no problems.
So could the CEL come on because it was authorizing the new key? It also took about 5 seconds before I got any lights on the dash with the new key.
Thanks

not sure, when I got my new keys they worked as if they were the origionals.
if the key was programmed by a locksmith it may have coded while it finalised the programming sequence, it may have coded DTC31 but if its all ok now i wouldnt worry about it.
