    Default Number plate protectors

I just did a bit of hunting around and it seems I can't get what I want without spending twice as much. I have slimline plates on the front and standard size plates on the rear. From what I gather, you can't buy this combination of protectors. I will need to buy two pairs and split them up. Does anybody know if these can be purchased individually? I have tried all the parts stores in town and the 15 year olds tell me no.

Has anybody else had this drama? Or does somebody else have the same combination and want to go halves in two sets? $29 a set from Auto One. I don't want to spend $58 and waste $29.

just wondering how you ended up with both styles of plates??

what i would do, go to a big supercheap auto store find a quite spot in the shop and open a pack of slim line plates and normal, and make the combination you need. clearly you will need to do this without damaging the packet of the one you want. the 15 year olds will never know the diiference

    ebay the left overs??

In SA we can have mixed sets too.

A smaller car parts place may help? When looking for a particular kind of plate protector I had to hit all different stores. SuperCheap, AutoBarn etc all had the sets your talking about but AutoPro? I think? Sold them individually, which worked out better as I only need to replace one anyways

So yeah point of the long rant was to say, try smaller non chain stores?

How much you want for the slimline and the standard one?

Check the width of the slimline for me? Different states have different sized slimline plates. Over here it is 100mm.

Sorry ridah, those covers are too small, mine are 10cm wide.

I went into Supercheap and they only had the same size pairs. I asked if they can be ordered and the chick said no. You can't even buy individual ones. Which Supercheap store did you go to?

wrecker? i go to wreckers for all sorts of things people usually feel they would look too cheap to be seen buying there

The way I see it is that if someone doesn't take it, all those resources used to make the item were a waste as it is still servicable and why wasted more resources making a new part?

I even scavange odd screws, nuts and bolts and normaly pick a part lets me have them for free since we have to pay $1 to get in they figure its even.

I'm all for recycling too, but with a $42 000 car, I would like nice shiny new number plate covers.

Man, I'd bite the bullet, buy two pairs, and put the other pair away as spares...knowing my luck, I'd buy two pairs, sell the unwanted pair, and week later I'd cop a stone in the front one and shatter it...

My old man used to say "keep a thing for seven years and you'll find a use for it"...which explains the mess in my sheds...it's genetic...
