    Default 15K NZD to spend

    Hi all,

I've owned a couple of holdens in the past, my first car was an HZ, and I had a VL for a few years.

I moved to the UK, but now ( 5 years later ) I'm moving back to NZ, and I'd really appreciate some advice on which commie to buy.

My car budget is 15K NZD.

I've thought about a VN SS, maybe with a bit of change for anything that needs doing, but I'm not sure the 165kw is really going to do it for me.

I've seen one or two 215 VS Senators for about my price, I'd prefer an SS, but I've not seen any with the 5.7 stroker option.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!
( I've even thought about going back to an HZ, it was great driving a car with no computer in it and plenty of room to work in the engine bay. Is that heresy to say on this forum? )

My advise would be to not jump in on the first car you see, take your time and be a real picky bastard and you will get yourself a great car in time.

You can always just buy a ****ter and drive that till you find what you want.

rb26dett: yeah I think I will try to just borrow family/friends cars for a while.
the problem with buying a cheapie is that several i've owned have turned out to be little gems, so i've driven them for years instead of selling them!

batemada: i've been looking, i just can't make up my mind! going back to west auckland.

check out pearce brothers on the Great South road in papatoetoe (sth auckland), they have one yard thats 80% holdens, many V8's and a few HSV's as well. they can be a bit pricy however. also check out this weeks autotrader, it has a whole section on Holdens with it being the 60th aniversary, pic of the new coupe 60 on the cover. (i know, i ran the job at work on wednesday)

For $15,000 NZD you might be able to get a Large Value Meal at McDonalds. But you should definitely get a Medium one LOL!!
