My partners VT SS 195i won't actually spin the wheels.. tried it at a mates place in his back yard the other day to do a burnout and it's got somewhat of a 'flat spot' as if it won't go past 2,000 RPM or 2.5,000 RPM it will spin at that speed and just won't go past it. It HAS in the past gone past that by just holding it and holding it and it kicked in the rev range, even clicked into second gear, however it just has issues..
It's a VT SS 5 Litre, Auto, no major modifications. We've tried water on concrete, 15's, pulling out the MAIN fuse to reset ECU and all..
The car is hopefully going to be entered into springnats but wanna sort out the issue before that obviously
Anyone else with a similar issue?
i know with my friends sv6 if he tries to do a stand still it will just rev and wont spin because of the abs
project vs wagon...5speed
vs wagon acclaim
Anyone else? we're gonna try the ABS soon.. Gonna get some other 15s and try it
I'm a bit confused.. what exactly are you trying to do and how are you trying to do it?
out of all honesty all it is, is just getting the wheels to spin.. been to a mates place a couple of times who has a.. well I guess a burnout pad in his backyard.. bit of preperation for Springnats as we're entering our cars. on 17's and 15's the VT won't 'ark up'.. It spins and just sits on about 2,000 or 2.5,000 RPM and stays there.. won't go any higher up the rev range which makes an average wheel spin. The car has previously been able to do circle work but yeah.. Have tried removing the Main fuse from under the bonnet. Have tried wet road to do it, but to no avail.
the VT has no traction control either. The only thing we are yet to try is pulling the ABS fuse, and when the flat spot is occuring, just lurch the car forward a little to get the rear wheels some momentum..
maybe read this thread for ideas on improving it Preparations... burnout comp. ??
My 195i has no problem.
my mates got a VT SS with a 5 litre
does the same thing
you can do a burnout but it takes a bit of patience to master quickly pumping the brake pedal when holding it flat.... once you get them spinning it clicks into second and sits on 90 k's pretty hapilly
easiest thing to do is crimp the rear brakes if your entering it in a burnout comp....
Dave: Since I got off my arse and proposed to my mrs :P
Peanuts Inc: Thats EXACTLY what it did last time, it would spin SLOWLY then yeah all of a secodn went past 2.5,000 RPM and yeah it was all hell was raised on the back tires! but yeah it's gotten bad since
have ya ever thought it was the diff? when i didnt fark me diff it just to rip skids with no probs, but now that me diff isnt as good as it use to be it hardly pulls them anymore, it just bogs down..
power steering fluid works a great treat!!!!
