A mate of mine has a vu ss ute, auto, black, lowered with the 2 hole mod and a set of 18's.
He's got $7000 to spend on his car
But he's aiming for this bodykit, which is different but takes up, after painting $5000 of his budget... im trying to convince him (i know its his car etc etc but he's asked me what other options he can do) to do some different mods.
He wants a bodykit, neither it be a vx maloo kit or something different and a full exhaust.
What could he get for his $7000?

It helps him by making my car safer, theirfor less likely to be involved in accident with his ute, as well as preventing me having an accident with anyone else. What does everyone else matter i hear you screaming from your heart? Well if i was to have an accident with someone else, it would as a penulty put everyone's insurance up, yes every little bit counts, so we are looking at a long term saving.
Hope your mate choses wisely in his choice lol.

$7000 could get your about 1400 eccy pills, do a bit of dealing and youll end up with about $25,000 that will get you a nice stroked and blown ls1 with plenty left over lol

They are some of the most expensive mods (well cam and heads are) you can do to your block, may as well get them done first while he has the cash, then worry about Maloo kits and all that crap later. With those mods, his VU SS would be getting up and moving very quickly!!

LS1Chubby, he's following your advice, he's going in for his exhaust next week, 1 3/4" tri Y's, 2.5" high flow cats, twin 2.5" mild steel, dual exits dumped for $2300, We'll never change his mind about a body kit but he's not going to get it untill leter in the year. I trying to get him to get a tune, OTRCAI and diff gears next![]()
Screw body kits.... I would use $7000 to tidy the car up inside and outside (im fussy). And use the rest for the motor.

yeah im the same, he needs a new steering wheel and some new bits and pieces n the interior, $600 would sort that out, including that fake leather, leatheret i think its called, on ebay for $350, but thats for a sedan so it would be cheaper for a ute. Even if he can pick up some SS seats.
from the same body kit place he was gettin the other kit from they do full maloo kits (unpainted) for $900.VU SS's look awesome as is, if he dosnt like the front bar, find a 2nd hand maloo one and put it on, try and get it for as cheap as possible.

That just makes it a wannabe. I look at all the cars with silly bodykits and they may as well write a sign saying "I couldn't afford a HSV so I just bought the bodykit instead".
The engine mods LS1Chubby suggested is the way to go. Although I think a head & cam would be more than 3K.
3K would get the cam done but not the heads.
Banks_vz, let us know how it all goes. I'm particularly interested in performance after exhaust, extractors, otrcai and tune is done. Do you really notice a HUGE difference in power?
Its not my car but im following it pretty closely. I went for a ride in his the other day so i know how his car feels compared to mine (VU SS vs VZ SSZ)
Mine being newer, picks up quicker etc. I think the major difference is going to be the sound more then anything. He's going twin 2.5 while im aiming for the twin 3" cus of the mods i've got planned for the future, so when i get mine it should be an intertesting comparision.
