It may have been asked before, and i apologise if it has, but what gear is a car supposed to be dynoed in and why?
I have done a search and after reading through the first 5 or 6 pages out of 20 related threads i decided to just post my own. I have read on another forum that they are supposed to be dynoed in the gear with the closest ratio to 1:1, which is apparently 3rd for autos and 4th for manuals.
Reason i ask is that my dyno runs were done in 2nd (auto), as are several other dyno runs i have seen, as well as manuals run in both 3rd and 4th. Will using 2nd in an auto or 3rd in a manual change the readout dramatically?
Before any one says that dynos are not accurate and useless anyway, and the only way to prove power is to get the drag strip, please understand that i am only asking as i want the most accurate reading i can get, as it will probably be a while before i can actually get onto the 1/4.
Cheers guys.
Running in a different gear won't effect power output, but will effect torque.
Most shops tent to run the car in 2nd (auto) has it puts less strain on the drivetrain.
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
does it make the torque higher or lower if using 2nd?
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Wondering as my VS Caprice runs on gas only IMCO system
Been told thats the only way to tune IMCO systems
Also have an issue with a power issue with it dropping back in revs when foot goes to overtake
Being from computer shutting down to TCC Solinoid issues, or TPS issue
Who knows till i find a way of analizing this prolem
From you guys applying dyno tuning to your cars
Can you give me a heads up on weather i am heading in the right direction of finding out this drop in revs, its like it goes into top gear rather then go up in revs when putting my foot on the pedal ???????????
