reverse should be a 47382(narva number), which is an 1156 single filament 21w globe. has it got 2 pins on the bottom or one? i know vn-vs utes and wagons all used a stop/tail twin filament globe in brake, reverse and indicators in the rear, dunno if they changed it to single filament for reverse and indicator for the vt/vu onwards

i was thinkingof that. i put white LEDs in the park lights and am putting orange ones in the indicators (cos they look crap with the orange bulb behind them.

do they make much of a difference, can you see more when you are reversing?

You don't need to see anything while reversing, thats what your tailgate is for

    in the day...no :P

but at night, i've found it easier to spot things, it doesnt really light the ground up as much as a normal bulb, but if something is in the way or is close (within say 3m) it lights it up pretty good. didnt really test before and after, have a look at my vid in my ride section it you want to see how bright they are

damn, why did i look at that??

have you got a 3/4 rear shot with the black tail lights. after seeing them i am starting to think that i need a set.

were they just a straight swap? and did they bugger up your cruise control?

    Hows that?

Yep straight swap 4 bolts after you take the rear panel off, haven’t seen a black ute with these lights going around, seen them on a red one but it looked a bit weird.

Had no problem with the cruise control, a couple of people have asked me that for some reason?

Bought the LED globes of eBay. But I bought the wrong ones, the pins weren’t in the right position but it doesn’t affect performance, check your bulbs first before getting them to make sure you get the right ones. I drove around with the normal bulbs in for a couple of weeks after getting them but I wanted the whole rear end to be LED.

Only problem with changing the indicator bulbs over to LED is that the relay thinks that the bulbs are blown, they will flash but really quickly. I had to get a hella LED flasher relay that allows me to run any combination of LED and normal bulbs. Even all LED and not have to change the relay. $60 for the relay so it’s a bit steep, but when I want something

EDIT: You need deep sockets to remove the taillights, well its not critical, just makes it easier

i may have to invest in a set.. i like them!

reason ive asked about cruise is cos i read on a forum that cruise switches off when it sense the brake lights on (i think).

whats the deal with the LED flashed relay, what is it and how does it work? is it just a standard relay that replaces the existing one?

cruise control only works off the brake switch,

if you put leds in a system designed for bulbs, it will think there is a blown bulb as there is less current draw with led's so it will flash at double the speed,

    Switches, Flashers, Relay & Horns

top one, 68245, works a treat in the vp, $25-30, just removes the blown indicator detection, so you'll have to check your globes once in a while, but being all led, should be fine for a long time

Do you mean when you have cruise control on and you press the brake and the cruise control switches off? isnt it suppost to do that?

It makes the LED's flash normal. In stead of a normal flasher relay thinking it needs for example 5 watts to each rear light it just searches for any, because LED's draw such little power. i can get you the part number if you like Yeah its a straight swap and go item. the auto elecy guy said it was a digital replacement rather then a mechanical one

I have those Black lights on my red VU. It looks much better than the factory ones I had on there. Oh and thanks guys, I now know why my cruise control hasn't been working of late.

I have but i dunno... i was either thinking of getting a maloo rear bar and modifying it a little, or just the maloo bumperettes, or the in fill panel. I has heading more towards the maloo bumperettes but i dunno lol

    Have you got one?

Well all up it cost me $190 for the lights of ebay (delivered) about $25 for the bulbs delivered and $75 for the relay which you can get cheaper, so no more then $235 for the lights for exactly the same setup i have.

Get a dual dumped tip mate of mine just put some on his car, except he's running dual exits with dual dumped tips, they suit the car

i am a few days away from ordering a set.. im just waiting on confirmation from someone to buy my old ones. im also thinking of getting an infill panel. and tips. not a full exhaust, cos i cant afford it.. just something to fill the hole up.

hopefully ill be able to have all that done before the JC ACT/NSW cruise to bathurst!

i also (finally) got the chrome bezels for the calais front bumper, so now the front end looks complete. all i need to do is wash it and put the wheels back on and it will look like a new car!
