Hi all,
I am getting leather put into my car. Well it's not actually leather, but leatherette (75% leather + $25% other stuff). It is the stuff off ebay: Seat Covers HOLDEN COMMODORE VL VN VP VR VS VT VX VY VZ - eBay Seats, Interior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 18-Apr-08 21:42:49 AEST)
I went and had a look at the covers, and at the time he was actually fitting red ones with a HSV logo to holden seats. They were a perfect fit, were very tight on the seat, like factory. The material itself feels good, however when i compared it to my friends WL caprice leather, it is very thin and not has hard. However, it is very elastic and overall i think it is pretty good. I saw his car, which he had them in for 6 years, and they still looked good.
So the point of this post... i want help with colour choices. I have a VY SS in Hothouse green. I have decided against any cream intereiors... it will be out of the following (however if you have any other ideas let me know):
- Full Black... pictures of a full black interior with stock holden leather
- Full grey... picture of a full grey interior with stock holden leather
- Black with grey inserts... basically, down the centre of my seats it will be grey, everything else will be black. Not too sure if the door trims will be black or grey though... here are some pictures of jobs he has done on other cars.
He can do a stock SS logo too, so i will get that done.
So what colour do you think would look good... remember the car is hothouse green... not too sure about the black as the car will be very dark inside.
Thanks,
Adam
Yeah i have seen these a few times on ebay, they look fantastic. One of the very few decent kinds of covers going around. I reckon they are worth the money you would pay for them. I'd say go all black. It's sexy.

light grey looks mint go for that
Eureka styles!
They are a perfect fit and easy to install i have been told. It costs $495 for front and back seats, including headrests. For door trims and centre console, it costs $45 per square meter. He told me that 2 square meters will cover door trims and centre console, so all up it will cost $585. He will also install for a total cost of $1200, he has a special going now for $1100 (have to be a student though i think, i.e. need studend card). But yeah, he has some sets in stock, but other ones need to be ordered.. takes 2-3 weeks.
Oh thats the other thing i was going to ask.. you will notice on the SS holdens that the door trims for non-leather is different to the door trims for leather... the leather one sort of has a shelf.. see pictures below...
Non-leather (well it once was non leather):
v.s. leather:
what do people think, should i try and ge the leather style door trims (but without the leather on it, i.e. just the mould) from holden?
Oh and another note, he said he doesn't have any covers for VY Series 2 SS's (i'm not sure if this covers all VY Series 2 holdens or just the SS's)... apparently they vary around the headrest area.

I agree, definantly all dark grey, or all black. But each to their own of course. I reckon the black leather covers would look ****ing awesome against the green of your SS dude. Imagine opening the hothouse green doors to reveal black seats.
Man that would look awesome!!!

No question, black for sure.
I almost purchased an ss with leather before i got the one i have now and it looked great.
Just a thought, have you tried finding factory secondhand leather interior? I quite often see it for sale and although it costs a bit more you could always sell your interior to recover some costs.
Go the black leather, with green outlined stiching to match the outside of ur car. SS logo should be in green outline as well.
so a black logo with green outline?.. not sure if he does this, i will find out.
that looks killa, mite get it myself but with calais logos... if it can be done... but id go all black
edit: how hard are these to install?? r they just like normal seat covers?

How does he accommodate the side air bags in his designs?
Good question, not too sure. How do the normal airbags blow out of the seat? Does the stitching tear from the force? If so i'd assume same would happen for these seats.
Anyways have ordered the leather guys, will take 2-3 weeks to arrive, i'll install it myself and will let you know how it all goes. Will also have some before and after pictures.
Just bumping up this thread... leather should be arriving this week, am very excited! Will get it installed asap and let you know the results..
I'd go for black and then start saving for a different exterior color.

The VZ is here! About time!
Hey yeah the plastic on my door trim is black... i just went with a straight black though, with green stitching, so it should look stock. Should be arriving over the next few days, hopefully it is on time, and will let you guys know how it turns out.
Well guys went and picked up the leather... here are some photos...
Am happy with it although i think the logo could have been done a little better.
Also they are very creased, but those creases will stretch out once fitted and had some sun.
