Default Drive on the right ?

    Hi all

I am thinking of exporting a ute to Saudi Arabia but the problem is

that we drive on the right side (the steering wheel is on the left)

when we buy Skylines we change them to Cefiro dash bord (or anything that fits)

but am not sure about the ute ?

and another qustion : is it OK to drive a LHD in Austalia ?(I'll drive on the left)

yeah its fine to drive a LHD vehicle over here, just as long as you see your motor registry for some 'special permit' thingo lol

You need a special permit for LHD vehicles so you can't drive on everyday in Australia.

The ute dash is the same as the normal normal dash for that model, so your best bet would be to get the peices from a LHD SS or whatever over there and swap it over into the ute. Big job though...

If the LHD vehicle is over a certain age you don't need the permit anymore, I think it's 20 years or something though

Yeah but for the purpose of this thread, a VE ute needs permits.

in ACT a car with a LHD conversion needs to be engineered. when dad got the corvette registered here they knocked him back cos it didnt have a report despite the fact it had a certificate and plate of complience from when the conversion was done in QLD. when the engineer looked at it all he said was tighten a bolt 2 turns and spray some black paint under the gaurds when you lift the bonnet. it took 15 minutes and he charged 1500 bucks.

Well ... if my info is right I have to remove a lot of stuff -maybe the engine too- so I can (Slide) the steering componints to the left.

but it's going to be hard with a new car like the commodor, as the fuse box in the skyline and the cefiro if inside the hood, and there is no airbage wires to move ...

well .. when I get the ute I'll just park it in the garage and work my butt of to change it

    thanx all

my sister is thinkiing of going for a drive in saudi arabia.

Boy 1236, how many years in the slammer would she do for attempting that, or how many limbs would be amputated by the state as punishment?.
