anyone been thru a victorian viv inspection?
can you guys help me out on whats required to pass this?
iv heard getting an "under body measurement report" helps, anyone know where i can get one?
cheers
I'm off to one soon..
Basically all i know is, Repairs will be checked to make sure they have been done 100% right and are safe, There is no more Cut and shut jobs they are not acceptable, All work must pass, I have herd they measure the car to make sure it's within original length width to rule out extra damage or bending or weakness in the body etc.
Rebirths are what they are also looking for and they will not pass and they wont miss them.
If the work is done at home you will need receipts for all work all parts down to the washer, Then a signed stat dec.
Best bet is to have it done by the pro's then you have official papers and work done to cover it makes it easier for you and them and they get on with the job faster.
In many ways it's like a Road worthy gone mad, They spend as much time on the phone finding out about this cars history parts work as they do looking over it, that's why expect it to be away for a good full day.
I have had people tell me they have seen new looking cars that you would believe just came off the show room floor rejected.
Every little part on that car must work as it did from the factory.
I was to get fog lights but not have them connected wired until after the VIV, like i was told if it's there they must work.
I have pictures of this car from top to bottom to prove everything from day 1 to day end. It all helps.
So to say I'm dreading one soon is a understatement.

Yes the car must be as it was before the damage or as it was like it came factory wise.
But as long as things like pillars aren't damaged it's fine.
I got one little dint in the rear quarter it was there before so apparently it's fine it didn't come from the accident.
So if it's been written off because of the hail damage just fix that up and it's all good.

I purchased a car from Pickles a few years ago with hail damage and the car required a VIV.I didnt touch the car at all and passed a VIV(Vic).
That seems weird, Because if I'm right the car was only written off because of the hail damage?.
That's the only way it could be written off?.
Unless it was unregistered and need to be fully registered again, Then you will need the VIV but nothing else, They only wont to identifying the vechile being not stolen or a rebirth.

compared to 13-16k for one that wasnt a repairabl eright off.
But hail damage isn't worth half the price of the car to repair?.
To be honest you could get a full paint job for around $3000 and it would be as new.
Usually it's the insurance company that refuses to pay the money out and writes them off rather then repairing them. But hail damage wouldn't be significant damage to be a waste of time repairing it for any insurance company?.

depends on the amount of damage, if theres heaps of dents then it starts costing more, if you pay for it in cash in hand it will be cheaper but insurance jobs get charged more, instead of reparing the damage you will find its often replaced instead, some shops will replace a whole bumper just for one scratch intsead of repairing it.
Wish i had only hail damage..
Hail damaged cars seem like a decent buy to me.
I had that issue when a guy ran up the rear of the VP when mum was driving it.
Guy around the corner said, New Bar and supports, Garnish cracked, And will will fix that little mark on the c pillar.. $3,500.
I was in shock with my mouth open, He said we love uninsured people we send heavies around to hassle them..
They do **** some over.
