Just wanted some advise on lowering blocks, to pass on to a friend. He has an EF Falcon Wagon, and wants to lower it. I've seen lowering blocks for the rear (leaf springs) and just wondered about 1. How safe they are 2. How illegal they are and 3. How much they stuff up the handling of the car....
Would he be better of spending the money to get it proffessionally lowered, or are these lowering blocks a decent, cheaper alternative?
Cheers,
Sam
Mate has 2" blocks in his XH ute, never had a problem in over 2 years...
Shut up when I'm talkin' to you, you hear me, answer me!
The legal aspect depends on how low you go.
The blocks are perfectly safe.
The don't affect the handling at all because you aren't changing the spring rate, just the height.
ive got 2inch blocks in my eh. way cheaper then reseting the leaves. pretty sure they arnt illegal in qld.. didnt notice any diffrence in handling.and didnt change the quallity of the ride...i think there a good cheap way of lowering a leaf sprung car
..
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...
Good question,i have a BA wagon and it needs to drop too.
i have got 3 inch blocks in my hj ute and they havent affected anything...not that i noticed....you could reset the spring, me and my mate done it on his old ltd, we brought old leaf springs and added one leaf into his existing springs, upside down however if you get wat i mean...bloody hard and a little dangerous but it worked and after 5 years is still orite...i wouldn go to that much trouble however blocks are way easier....

Thanks everyone for your input. I will try to research whether they are illegal in Vic, but I think it'll just be dependent on how low you go!
Cheers,
Sam
Once again, probably depends on who exactly pulls you over and whether they notice or not, and what mood they are in...![]()
Lowering blocks are perfectly legal in Victoria! Provided you keep your 100mm ground clearance at the lowest point of the vehicle.
