i am unsure of paint prices, obviously they jump up and down etc.
could anybody give a quote? im sure somebody is a painter i seen some block saying he does planes etc...
im just keen to know what i would pay for the following!
candy colours?? for example "22inch" that crazy vl. or any candy apple
holden ve green?? seen it on a few utes around, its ok.
pearl?? say a black with a purple pearl or something like that??
just estimates on what its worth to do a small car like an escort, proper job, say inside ed ges of boot inside doors 8" or something, engine bay etc...
or even just price of it per litre.
an estimate on labour too wouldnt hurt. id tip the pearl would be expencive although i dont know exactly how its done.
I CANT WALK ON WATER BUT I CAN STUMBLE ON ALCOHOL
anybody?....
expect anywhere from $600 (bottom line) to $1100 (midrange) just for paint labour will depend on panel damage, etc, etc.
Mate got a quote today to respray his VP, whole car, same colour. 2 weeks work he reckons. 2.5k.
Shut up when I'm talkin' to you, you hear me, answer me!
Ay mate, my first question is, how much do you want to spend?
For a guide, the green should be about $110 a litre, should need aboutttttt, 4 litres + thinners * 5lts is about $50) if you doing a small to medium car properly, inside boot eng bay etc. That also depends on the colours, black and darker colours will cover better then reds or yellows which is the ****test colour to paint as its weak.
Then clear as it’s a COB (clear over base) system, that’s about $600 a kit, which is enough to do a car. Ill have to find out about the candy colours, as I don’t really know about these. Don’t quote me on these prices as they're rough figures and its 10 o'clock lol, I’ll get solid ones tomorrow...
Pearls, well depends what you want to do. Some can be cheap as ****, which is what I used on my jetski, $30 or something for a powder. It’s when you want liquid pearls and flip flop effect that’s its starts getting stupid. $500+ for decent material. Mine came out just the way I wanted it and im a fussy bastard.
As for the quote for labor, how longs a piece of string?
Any questions just ask
BTW: those prices are for the top shelf paint, I wouldn’t use anything else but when it comes to paint.
also depends on whether your going single or two pack, a piece of string is as long as twice the sum of half it's length.
what is COB? and what is this 2pak 1pak stuff?
COB = Clear over base. Uses a clear 2 pak over a basecoat
2 pak = Chemically activated paint, requires hardener for the paint do dry. 2 pak is short for 2 parts. As its chemically hardened it doent reply on ambient temperature to dry. Althought as with all chemical reactions, it will dry quicker if its hotter.
1 pak is more commonly known as, basecoat. Only requires thinning. No hardener as it uses ambient temperature to dry. 9/10 times it will need a clear as its dries semi gloss or matt.
garrrrr jump on one small mistake, I make paint for a living normally we refer to it as single or two pack for simplicity, however we deal in industrial coatings (floors, metal pillars, etc, etc)
It does sound like he will be going two pack anyway.
I still stand by my above posts.

I thought id put some prices up; these are a close guide to the prices I can offer. They may fluctuate as our supplier changes their prices quite regularly. These prices are as of FEB 2008. They may seem expenisve but you pay for what you get, This is the paint we use on our repaints on aircraft. only the best for the best!!
