VY or VU ute! Please help!!

Hey all ute lovers.

im currently 17 years old, and been doing some research on utes, love them to death.
This is my plans,
Next year i am starting apprenticeship, therefore i am wanting to purchase a ute,
i have been browsing around, and i was looking at a VU or a VY.
Just wondering if anyone could help me out on pros and cons? of each model,
or are they same engine etc....
i am looking to spend about 15,000 to 17,000.
give or take!

They've got the same engines, they're pretty much the same car. It all depends...which do you prefer the look of? And which can you find in better condition? One thing to think about is that the VY is newer, and will be easier to find in better condition, despite the fact that I personally prefer the look of the VU, black VU SS = teh sex.

well u deff cant get a vy ute for 17k, u need at least 25k to get a decent 1, unless u go to the auctions then mayb a high km vy, but vu looks the goods to.. and shud pick 1 up easy for 15-17k

What apprentice ship are you starting? If your gonna be doing something that requires you to carry anything don't get a styleside. I'm a plasterer and i have a vz styleside and i regret not getting a tonner.

i scored my vy s2 s pack ute for 20k -50,000km's, leather bits everywhere, hardcover, and not a scratch on it! Save the monies and get a vy for sure. I'd want a seriously modded vy for 25k!
