Default New Motor For Stato???

hey all jc ppl,

just wondering what your thoughts would be

im currently considering doing a motor conversion on my vr stato (check vr-vs rides for more details)

it will be a v8 of some sort

but here are the two options that ive come up with and my mates agreed with me but don't kno which one either haha

either a Stroker 355

or a

Gen 3 LS1 conversion

power goal would be rough 300rwkw...
(which i kno with a ls1 is very achievable, and doesn't take much to do so)

but havent really seen a Gen 3 conversion done into a VR/VS statesman/commonwhore before....so unsure of what the go would be...

Regards
Benji

If your goal is 300rwkw N/A then the LS1 would be the obvious choice. 355 would get there too, but with more work I believe.

Speaking of LS1 conversions, how much would it cost to have someone put one in a VN with a warranty? Or doesnt anyone do them?

sounds like it cheaper to do 355 stroker as will fit in with minimal fuss

Yeah around the 10 mark, my matw was going to put a Gen3 in his 78 series landcruiser, it was close to 10 grand with engine, adapters, wiring etc. Would of cost about 15 grand to finish by the time he got it engineered, and changed at the RTA and insurance and **** like that. He was doing all work him self to at his home workshop so if you cant do it your self then i wouldnt bother. He opted out and is now rebuilding his turbo diesel, reminds me of fast and the furious as hes importing all these high -end parts from japan lol, he recons its going to be the last time he crack a piston lol.

But all in all it should be cheaper to put into a commodore, and you could use the 6 speed trans to

had another option throw at me today, drop in a v6 supercharged motor...

it goes in minimal fuss, and alot cheaper than the 355 or ls1 conversion option??
