Hey there i was wondering how may kms should a set of leads last for and is there a way to test them with a multimeter to see what sort of condition they are in.

You set the multimeter to ohms and test the resistance, I can't remember the exact figure, but I think it's something like 2 or 3 ohms for every foot of lead. The best way to tell if they are buggered is to look at the ceramic on the spark plug, if there is a black ring near the base, the leads need replacing.

I normally change mine every 50,000k's. Because I find them cracking at around 45,000ks. And also a little drop in power at the top end.

Ignition Lead Resistance (V6)
Left Hand Side Less than 10,000 ohms
Right Hand Side Less than 27,000 ohms

Ignition Lead Resistance (V6 supercharged)
Left Hand Side Less than 10,000 ohms
Right Hand Side Less than 17,000 ohms

Is that the Gregory's manual?

As not an abba fan suggested: about 2-3kOhm per foot(Im assuming that is what he meant rather than 2-3Ohm.

I wouldnt have any lead measuring more than 10kOhms.
The resistance of new leads can vary a bit. Good practice to measure the resistances before you install them, and then just remeasure and compare them later down the track. If the resistances stay the same, the inside of the conductor has not deteriorated.
However, this may not be the case for the exterior of the wires which may perish and crack and allow the spark to jump elsewhere......careful visual inspection at the hotter end of the lead(plug end)
