Hey dudes,
My clutch is on its way out and i wanna get it all good before i put the blower on, and was thinking i will get the box rebuilt and strengthened while im doing it. (5ltr, T5 gearbox by the way)
But WHERE in the mornington/frankston or close to area, does gearbox work?!!!
I know of one place, and they quoted me between 2K (basic stuff) - 6K (Full T56 conversion) lol, and obviously i want to get a few quotes.
And what sort of price should be expected?
But i dont know any where else around here that actually does that sort of work.
And also what sort of clutch could you guys recommend that will withstand a blown 5 ltr @ 8 psi????
I rang Exedy, and they said they have nothing to suit that will hold up to it.
And none of the other company's we deal with at work are any good for performance style clutches....
Cheers,
Geoff
dont u mean handle 14psi..... there was an add in street commodores mag a few issues ago with a single plates clutch that could handle bout 600hp and a double that could handle 1000hp, ill look bak a few issues if ya want and get the details for ya...they also had the price of them...
Vortech V1 supercharger : 10psi : Intercooled : 3.89 Mini-spool : VT Big Brake conversion : Shift kitted auto : B&M Shifter

[QUOTE=Wagon_Wheel;788558]Hey dudes,

should work everywhere. lol
or do you meen WHO?
HONESTLY OFFICER, IT WAS CONSECUTIVE U TURNS..
LOL at the tool that left a pointless comment.
Geoff, u being dead serious that exedy had nothing that will handle 8psi... thats bull****. um on the "other" forum, PM or ask Dan about his clutch... im sure his was exedy.
Or txt shannon about it, or even ask Mick.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
No one?
Anyway, ive been told by some ppl that the T5 can be strengthened, and by some saying there is nothing in the way of strengthening available.
I am thinking of staying with the T5 box, getting it rebuilt and getting a mint clutch.
But i dont know what clutch! Thats the main part i need help with
Sounds like the people at exedy are lazy. Have a look at cars like TRYHRD and them, sif they are running stock clutches. There will be a few places out there that make strong clutches for high powered vehicles.
As Markie said, try on SC, there are heaps of wicked high powered cars over on there, they will point ya in the right direction bro![]()

That way, with just a heavy duty and not an extreme clutch, the T5 will have a fighting chance of living....Providing you drive it sensibly, i.e not riding the clutch or slipping it at 5000 revs, it will stand up quiet well. You can still drive it hard, just don't do real stupid stuff with it or you will find yourself searching for a new clutch and new T5.....
Ok, made many phone calls today.
Rang textralia.... she was going to get the guy who makes the clutches to get back to me but he never did
Rang exedy again, spoke to the guy for ages, and apparently VRII and VSI ran a different fly wheel to the earlier VN/VP ones, so i cant run a 10.5" clutch, only a 10" one is possible as is, but if i could run the older style flywheel it would be all sweet....
Rang Clutch industries.
They said no worries, they have an RPM clutch, with a different flywheel package, which is based on the 350 chev setup and he said itll hold whateva you throw at it, but then i said supercharger and he said hmm... same thing but with a cushioned ceramic plate instead.
I can get that setup for around $750 or $930 with the ceramic option...
Still not sure exactly what im gonna do, its too confusing![]()
Finally got through to textralia today.... and it just added more confusion to it all.
He said apparently some of the HSV models, used a pull type clutch instead of a push type clutch.... and if its the pull type, apparently there is only 1 company that make a clutch to suit.
So i have to find out what it is now, and i dont know how im going to do that without pulling it out.
