just a quick question, will a holden efi 304 fit into a HZ wagon? easily anyway... car already has an 8, unsure of the size but it's whatever it came out with. weak as **** and dying. My mate wants to get rid of his hz wagon, $1500, straight body... only needs a good paint job to look awesome so i'm thinking about doing it up.
will go in no probs. no engineers cert needed because they came out with a 308.
you will need to sort the electrics out. i have a mate who has been looking into putting one in his hq tunna and a auto sparky told him its a simple wireing job.
cheers shane
heres my ride, i know its not much but its mine

The motor itself is pretty much a bolt in job. Just done the exact same conversion in a WB ute.....any more questions just ask. Happy to help.
Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, 'My name is Ray, and I am an alcoholic'?
I used a Castle Auto Electrics wiring loom/patch harness.
thanks for that guys, i'll let you know when it's starting!
Well Unlike you I dont look at dogs balls so I dont know and if there is a rule why is it an option.. Im not selling anything or promoting so where is the problem.. Seems your the only one with the problem.. Build a bridge and get over it..
There is a rule against what you said cause it has been edited..

Been there on this one assisting (I did the wiring - using VP and VR wiring diagrams) a mate with a VS V8 and auto. into an HX. It was a few years ago, so this is what I can remember.
The engine is a straight bolt in (as you might expect).
The 4L60(E) trans. will require a new cross member/mount. I think that was bought from Castlemaine Rod Shop. The driveshaft will need to be shortened.
The speedo needs to be sorted. With a VN/VP the speed signal needs to go through the VN/VP speedo head to work. With the VS there was two speed sensors one went to the PCM and the other was substituted for with a speedo gear and cable (also from CRS?). I think that VR are similar.
The driveline we used had already had the anti-theft function removed. That would be trivial on a VP or VN Calais system.
An engineer's report is going to be required (even if you kept the HZ trans. and the bolt pattern may not match the later EFI blocks - I don't think that it does) because wiring changes are required.
Here: National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP)
A surge tank and EFI fuel pump and return line will be required. A conversion to straight LPG might be a way around and you would get back the $2K.
A carbon canister will be required (not with LPG).
A brake upgrade may be necessary depending on the engineer and perhaps the engine used.

Bloke at work converted his old ute to vp engine and box, i consulted him on all the wiring mods, it was a simple mod of the old vp loom he had. One thing i do remember is you need to bridge out the old security bit on the computer, i think it was the pink wire that goes through the passenger side secuity key barrel . All you need to do is hook the computer input to the acc.
You doing the trans too, it would be a shame to bolt the motor to the cappy tri-matic.
