Stolen cat converters
OK so last night i thought i heard what sounded like spanners being put onto the ground and thought nothing of it as i was just going to sleep. Then this morning i went out to my car to go out (which i park in the street), got in it, started it up and it dead set sounded like someone had put a V8 in it over night. I turned it off pretty quick then looked under the bonnet, all was good.
Looked under the car and saw a gasket and some bolts on the gorund and saw my exhaust hanging down on the ground. I thought "damn, my exhaust came undone...how did that happen" then i was like "wait....WHERE IS MY CAT CONVERTER?"
Someone stole my cat during the night. Seriously like who goes out and steals someones cat during the night and it was only a stock cat too? go and buy one.
If i find them i am gonna breaking his legs.
Anyone got any advice? i was just gonna go out to the wreckers on the weekend and grab another one, anyone know how much it would be? Its such a pain in the ass and an inconvience.

thats low (literaly) as VN_luke said, lower the car, i know i can't get under mine but it doesn't have a cat anyways
when you fit another cat, after it's bolted get someone to put a few tack welds between the 2 flanges. stop em stealing it but a quick grind will remove it if you need to and you will definitly know is someone is trying it again

Mate not to worry, it could of been alot worse!!
Lucky the scum didnt tax ya whole car! best bet would be a wreckers mate, heck if their half decent tell them what happened and they might give you a discount?
This actually brings up another valid point of interest, is it just me or does it seem like theives are now stealing alot more vr/vs models of late? I have my calais insured but i still park it under the garage everynight!

I actually laughed when I read this thread, I would be thankfull that it wasnt something expensive. Just get another one and loctite it on or spot weld it like someone said, they will give up and leave if its too hard. I would have just taken the zorst off (the back half) then drove it to the wreckers and got a new cat, would be funny seeing all the people turning their haeds as you drive past.

And if they're half as dodgy as somearound, they'll sell you your own cat back at an inflated price

Could have been worse I suppose, like a 2, 3" high flows or even the whole exhaust.
A big inconvenience, but kinda funny lol

Would have been funnier if the cat was gutted.
Maybe you could write in nikko pen near your cat.
Oil and plugs are in the garage, please do a service.

There are so many pet shops around..Pretty sure you can find a good cat..... just make sure their rear hole is big for more flow........

Cat Converters have platinum in them and as such they are becoming very expensive.
Gold is at about $880 an oz where as platinum is about $2000 an oz.
Like the other guys say, tack weld.
