Default Very bad day... car written off

Hey guys, just got home from what was suppost to be a early day and to fix my car.. anyways here is the story

I was travelling down greens road, I was on my way to kumbak wreckers to pick up a fuel pump, while I stopt to turn right into kumbaks driveway I noticed I was about 3metres to far to turn right.. so I reversed and stopt where I was suppost to be.. This is where I stuffed up, I looked when I revervsed for oncoming traffic but I dont think I did a check when I turnd right into kumbak

And the company I work for, semi trailer truck slammed into my rear door, spinning me into kumbaks pole/gate with so much force it has smashd all rear windows, rear bar off, rear panels all fckd, all lights garnish smashed... and alot more... front end is fine though

Police + ambos arrived, and I walked away with just a stiff neck and back, and another loss of 3 points :@

As some of you know I was getting this car ready to be supercharged in 2 weeks, but unforunetly that isnt going to happen and I will be wrecking the VT

Im thankfull that im alive, and the truck just dropped his load so he didnt have that extra weight

Thought ild get it off my chest...

Good luck, you got hit by a truck and got away without serious injuries. It may not seem so, but you're bloody lucky.

    Are you insured?

Yeah full comp, im going to go to see the car on tuesday and inspect it more... though im an idiot, the only mod I didnt tell them about was my exhaust+extractors so I might be in a bit of ****.... which is not good..though my friends mum who works for AAMI said because it DIDNT cause the accident she thinks they will just pay me out(I HOPE)

and yes im very lucky, I remember spinning around 2 or 3 times and I really did think I was dead! Heres a image to say really how lucky I AM: http://csereport2005.bluescopesteel....terial-eff.jpg thats the EXACT truck that hit me

Any modifications are ok so long as the car is roadworthy, it's just that if you don't tell them about the mods the mods are not included in the value of the car. That's how I read my policy anyway

Crikey! That's sooo upsetting mate I'm really sorry to hear that bad news but atleast you are ok. It really gives ya the s---s when you try to improve your car and then an accident happens

If it makes you feel any better I had my new VN stolen, My VL hit up the arse and last wek my Mother-In-Law wrote of the VT which was my father-In-Laws pride and joy; low Ks, always garaged and serviced; he's about 73.
    sh---t like this keeps happening.

Keep ya chin up, you'll get another car and things will be cool in no time

What's done is done so don't dwell (not trying to tell you what to do or anything) on it imagine how ya would feel if ya had just done all the other work to it and she got smashed

Anyway, my sympathies for you and your car; it's
not a pleasant experience but we all tend to have a prang or two. Chin up and have a game of Squash it sooths the nerves!

Hey Noy don't mention the exhaust to the insurance company, if they notice it just tell 'em you didn't think it was something u had to tell 'em about, say "I told you about all the other mods, etc, etc, etc....." They've got their reputation to think about as well. I recently phoned AAMI up to tell 'em that i installed a u.h.f. radio and asked what would have happened if i hadn't told them and then made a claim, they said they would "Do whatever they can to help." hopefully they still have that attitude when we do actually make a claim !!!!!!!!!???

good that your allright, it's just a car, think of it this way, when you get the payout something else even better may just happen to come along.

One door closes, another opens up man.

    Hi Noy

No, you probably won't get anything back from the vehicle, except personal items which are in it such as cameras, clothing etc. Any fixtures on the car remain the property of the insurer and unless they are aware of those items and have agreed to insure you for their specific value, they won't acknowledge the value of them in the payout. In other words, if, for example, you have a nice set of alloys which they don't have specified and separately valued in your insurance, tough!

Years ago, my HT Premier was nicked. I got it back and after repairing it, took it to a valuer for the insurer to have a more realistic valuation placed on the car. At the time, a standard V8 HT Premier was worth about $2000, but mine was fitted with air con, alloys, four speed 327 and a heap of other stuff. The GIO valued it at $2500 max, even though I wanted to insure it at $3000 (This was in 1978 - cars were just a little bit cheaper then!)

    Good luck with your claim.

it is usually cheaper for them to pay you out then go to court, if however you ran straight into a ferrari dealership and took out several cars on your way.......

you said you didn't "cause" the accident, i'm sure this is true but can you re-explain for the simple minded "me" how it happened again? my understanding is that you turned across a lane which had oncomming traffic, or was it you looked for that, but didn't look behind you?

No I think you read wrong mate, I said the lowering didnt "CAUSE" the accident or the exhaust.

ahh k, I was not referring to the mods, but now I understand, you are at fault, but the mods shouldn't void the insurance as they did not contribute.

Sorry, I can be easily confused.
