Is my mechanic trying to rape me by quoting $400-430 to replace the valley cover gasket in my VS V6??
I know the gasket needs replacing but the price seems to be off to me..
I thought it would be a lot cheaper like $300 or so
nah he is right.... he has to take off ur intake cover, injectors and rail, alternator, power steering pump, and so forth from the front of the motor to get at the valley nuts, that takes about an hour just to do that [$75-80 an hour labour] then th price of the gasket,{as it is an ecotec i gather}, then needs to top up the radiator with new coolant, check the heater has all the water it needds, and then double check that there is no more leaks/noises, etc.... so all up it will take the mechanic about 3-4 hrs to do the job, from start to finish...
he is correct about price mate.. that is pretty close to cheap if u ask me..lol
yep that sounds about right
project vs wagon...5speed
vs wagon acclaim
Ok then thanks for the replies. I kept thinking its a simple job but by looking at it it quite a bit to do.
