Hi all,
I would like to know a couple of things please... about the S/c 6 (VT onwards)
- Dimensions like length and width
- weight
- and is it possible to run an engine driven fan or will it foul somehow on the supercharger, belts or pullys.
Cheers![]()

What do you need the dimensions for?
Motor is exactly the same size as any Ecotec V6 VS-VY and why would you want to run an engine driven fan anyway as they sap power, but as for using one would depend on the height of the water pump pulley and whether anyone makes a spigot to bolt on a fan blade.

Hes putting it into a 4runner, so he needs dimensions of how its gonna fit.

The reason i want an engine driven fan is because it is for a 4x4, the thermos when switched on and crossing rivers, puddles etc have a tendancy to act like a boat propellor and take off straight into the radiator, if the radiator dont get damaged, the thermo fan will be twisted and distorted and be absolutely useless and will have NO MEANS of cooling...... hence the engine driven fan, i know it will suck power, but as i said its for a 4x4.... its not going to be used in a fast commodore. (although there may be a few surprised locals who pull up beside me at the lights...hehehe )
I MUST have enough cooling for up the bush on a 40 degree day working it hard.
cheers

They take up less space than an efi 5L and are about 24 Kg lighter going by difference of car weights between VS 5L and VS sc6 Calais on redbook. VS sc6 engine is the same dimensions as VT-X. Sorry can't give any more help than that...

Thanx heaps for that info Sixshooter....
A mate has a 5.0 VT in his 4Runner 4x4 and fits real well, it takes up heaps less room than the original 3.0 v6.
He also has fitted an engine driven fan, but in order for the fan blades to miss the radiator, the whole engine and gearbox had to move back about 50mm.
Having said that, considering the v6 is shorter than the v8, I should be ok and not have to move anything backwards in order to fit.
However.....
not sure if an engine driven fan would clear the other engine components like pullys, belts etc for the supercharger.
does anyone know ??????
cheers

You would need to get a spacer made up to clear the blower and engine belts if that is possible and the bolts for the water pump pulley possibly need to be enlarged to support the weight of an engine fan. The water pumps weren't designed for engine fan fitting as far as I know, so it may be safer to just use thermofans instead.

I have no evidence to back this up, but it seems to me the standard super6s are terrible for towing/heavy torque applications.
I think the intake temperature gets way to hot while towing... I towed a fairly big trailer recently in a WHII statesman, and it really struggled on the freeway... Computer said it was using 50-65L/100km.
I did the same trip shortly after in my VR wagon, and it preformed a lot better. Again, i have no real proof of this, but it might be worth researching.
An intercooler would probably help this a lot...
As for the thermofans, a simple cut off switch would probably be enough. I totally understand why you'd want an engine driven fan though.
Good luck and post lots of pics
Oh and the other option could always be to run a supercharged buick engine... They tend to be rock solid with decent amount of low end torque, and with a supercharger could be tuned as a very torquey engine.
L67's have stacks of low down torque !!! They grunt ! and love to hillclimb !
