Panel beating
Hey guys, i recently started a job about 5weeks ago as a TA at a smash repairs place in Canberra and since there i have learnt alot and still learning alot at dissasembaling and repairing cars and i was wondering about the idea of getting a panel beating section or post or something i dont know i thourght i would put it up as an idea and see what you all thought so yea feel free to have your say cheers

I think it is a good idea, there are allot of sprayers/beaters here and I would have loved there collective input in a single place when I was spraying my car, having said that I did recieve allot of good advice and help here just by asking.

kinda hard to set a thread up,
you will find that possibly everybodys post will contradict each other as panel beating and painting has no set way at doing things, only a genaral guide.
could try though, people can ask a question and they will get a few awnsers of how to do the job

I think this thread is a good enough place, i'd ask some questions but i'm right for now, car just got sprayed.

lol yea i have heaps of things i have to do to our cars but not enough money to get it painted after it has been fixed lol

ohh thats ok then sorry cobez well its in here now and a few peopke have seen it so i am guesing it has already got attention and if it was in the wrong section im sure a mod would have moved it by now

Ive been going to do a "How To " for months on file finishing and dent knocking . Nothing too intense ,just knocking out and filing parking dents without the use of bog,

Stick at it mate , will be able to do a bit of work on the side .I file finished a set of Ford XB coupe doors and lead wiped them about 5 years ago for $200. Also its amazing how straight you can make a bumper with a heat gun .

Too many projects.....
I think a paint & panel section would be a great idea.....there is plenty on mechanicals, but nothing really on just paint & panel!

yea dayvo spot on there mate i love my job it is awsome i did a full radiator support swap over 2day on a ve calais it was heaps fun

what shop are you in at mitchell?
i have a hardcover to be sprayed and may aswell get it fitted at the same time as its just sitting in my shed, then hooks shaved, rails resprayed, tail gate panel beated and sprayed and i have a replacement drivers side rear bumperette to be painted.
pretty much fixing all the issues from the dopey previous owner lol
so far i've been to a few places for qoutes
im looking at a cash job save me some coin so every where has been around $1000 cash job
