Some cars are going half undercover now.
In particular, one i've seen getting around the Croydon/Bayswater area.
Silver SS (i think) no markings on the front or back, but the sides have silver hi-vis police markings up and down them.

Sorry to thread dig for a few day old thread, but just thought i'd say, i was going along Highbury road here in Victoria and came to a stop at the front of the line at Highbury and Blackburn road in East Burwood, going towards the hills, and a silver VE SS was next to me and tried to get me to drag him off the lights, i gave him my usual "pffft" with a head shake and a wanker hand motion and drove off at normal speed while he punched it up to about 80km/h in a 60 zone.
This was before i had a good look through his window and noticed the fluro green reflective vest he was wearing, then i took a look at the rear window, you couldn't see the parcel shelf lights really at all, but he had 3 small aerials across the top of the rear windshield, it was a manual too, you could tell from the way it dipped when shifting from 1st into 2nd.
Then it was confirmed 100% when he pulled over a Nissan Silvia about a kilometre down the road and he watched me driving past. It's times like these i'm glad i don't have the massive urges to try and prove how big i think my balls are by drag racing on public roads. It made me look better because the copper would have realised i didn't know HE was a copper when i made the wanker hand motion at him with the head shake (i love using that one, i even add a roll of the eyes in as well if they are looking directly at me), as if i would have if i had of known it was a copper, i would have kept looking straight ahead.
But yeah, not being a hoon FTW!!

I always thought OH+S didn't allow cops to drive manuals because it's reasonable to expect them to talk on their radio/phone or use their computer on the road. You sure he wasn't just shifting the Tiptronic roughly or something?
But yeah, good thing you didn't. Your car would've completed its journey on a tow truck, must've been a slow day for em.

And the 4WDs in the outback? Manuals...they still need to use their radio's.

That's always a possibility, the VE SS's are fitted with 2 shift modes aren't they? I know the VE SS ute's are.

You've got your normal gear selection all the way to D then from D you can flick the shifter to the left and can manually select which sequential gear to put the car into (forward for gear up, backwards for gear down) (or viceversa)

And why is that,
perfectly legal to own, it is however illegal to use on public roads, pictures were on private property.

hey man where did you get those lights from?
they are hell illegal you can easily get done for impersonating a police officer/vehicle
also people could report you for being a fake cop
i hope you only had them on just for a photo not for any longer than that!
cheers,

as i mentioned they are legal to have, but they are illegal to use them while on public roads, as i understand i can have them there but they must not be turned on while travelling on a public road, Private property = fine.
