    Default Melbourne Detailers

Anyone know a top of the range detailer in Melbourne? I am too lazy to do the Senators paint the way it needs to be done. Would love some suggestions for some of the better details in Melb/Geelong.

    Cheers

Hahaha, what's the name of the one in Bayswater? I think one of the girls in customer service at my work, her husband owns it. If it's the same one, they are really, really good!

No kidding! That why the question read "HOW FAR are you from Rowville or Bayswater". I don't live in VIC so that why I asked.

The one in Bayswater go under the name detailers.com.au There's one in Rowville under the name 'Pro Shine'. They also do very good work and I think they've gone mobile.

Hmm Pro Shine eh. Wonder if I pay them to do the job as well as travell allowance + time driven here whether they would come for a drive. Might have to contact them.

    Hey guys

Everytime I look at my car I want to cry because of all the scratches from the neighbour's pram and caddies in the supermarket parking. I have been looking around to do a full detailing of the car. Can those scratches be fixed or do I have to go for repray? I am in SE inner suburbs and my best bet is Welcome to Base Auto Shop - "KEEPING CAR DETAILING TO A BUDGET" or maybe Final Inspection - Auto Detailing. What about those guys like touchupguys and smart guys who come to your place? Should I avoid them?

    Thanks for the feedback.

I just looked at 'Base Auto Detailing' and their exterior detailing package says 'paintwork is hand polished' . If you want scratches removed then hand polishing is pretty pointless. For a total price of $99 don't expect them to use compounds. The polish they will use will contain lots of fillers to make small swirls appear like they have gone but after 2 or 3 washes will be back. You want someone who knows how to use a machine polisher.

Looking at 'Final Inspection' I'm quite impressed. I'd be inclined to go for their stage three package. $550 might seem like a lot but you'll get what you pay for. Hell, if you've got the money then I'd even go for their Stage Four package!

You'll be able to determine yourself if a scratch can be removed by running your fingernail across the scratch. If you feel your fingernail get caught in the scratch then chances are no. Or of the scratch has gone down to the metal then obviously not. However with a good detail can minimise the effect of nearly all scratches. I machine polish my car regularly (panther mica, which is impossible to keep clean) and the results are so much better than anything I could ever achieve by hand.

Thanks for the reply. I got some additional info from Base Auto...which shares the same address and phone number as ProtechCarCare. Dunno if it's change of management or something like that.

Anyway the Paint Protection & Treatment - Protech Car Care starts at $550. The car has to be on site for 2 days. I will take the car for inspection for a final quote to both places. Cheers.

Damian at Final Inspection is good but he's fully booked until Jan next year.

Have a look at my "My ride" thread. A few pics on there after I had a Stage II done at Final Inspection.
