    Question Should i use primer?

Hi guys, i'm painting my girlfriends boot lid tomorrow (removed the spoiler) and i'm wondering if the bog will show through the white paint? There's only a small couple of spots but i don't have any undercoat and don't really want to buy some just to do a boot (i know i should have welded the holes, but it's a lancer ). There are also a couple of places where i've rubbed back to bare metal. I'm still learning as i go so what do you reckon?

How much paint do you have? If you have quite a bit, instead of buying some primer, just paint the over the bits that you have filled. Let it dry, sand it, and then paint it. Will save you having to buy some primer. Dont be shy with the paint either, if its a flat horizontal surface, load it on.

Yes it will show, no matter how well you have sanded it will still show.

You will need primer on bare metal. Paint is not a rust inhibitor. You have to seal the metal before you paint it. Primer also sands better than paint so it will fill any scratches left by sanding the filler.
