    Default Thermo Fan Question

Guys i justed did a coolant flush in my newly acquired VY Spack... after driving round a bit i realised that neither of the fans behind the radiator were actually running... so i drove a bit more and let the engine get hotter and still nothing - the engine was running at its normal temp and still no fans...

    is this normal???

PS: i tested the fans by connecting them directly to the battery and they worked, so i replaced the relay and there is still nothing...

they only activate when the coolant gets to specific temp,

one fan will run at specific temp think its 102 degrees
and the second fan will kick in a little higher

not sure about vys but on many cars that run twin thermos, one is the A/C fan. these will only activate when the pump is running and it reaches a specific pressure

the ywill only come on once the engine reaches a set temp. this is about 10 degrees above the normal operating temp. one will also come on with the a/c as mentioned above. things sound normal. to be really sure your gonna have to let it sit idling when up to temp and see if the fans kick in once it starts to heat up a bit more. may take few minutes

you could turn the air on and make an observation. afaik, the aircon fans will always come on if the car is stationary.

i thought the aircon fan only came on if you pushed the aircon?

my normal fan comes on during driving, but aircon only kicks in when i tell it to.

Both fans would come on when the motor gets way above thermostat temp. Aircon fan should come on when aircon is activated when stationary.
