hey guys just woundering i might be getting a air compressor soon but i need to know if you can use the same spray gun attachment inside and out side and on cars because i have been told that you might have to use a different 1 inside a house as it fogs the air or can you just set up an exhurst fan of somesort to evacuate the air??? lol if that makes any sense

With any painting make sure you have good ventilation and if equipment (masks suited to what your painting).
If your talking about painting house walls and fences type things, I personelly would be useing a syphon fed spray gun. I also use them for painting doors etc. They seem to be good for painting larged areas quickly.
For cars I use a gravity fed spra gun, a quality one not a cheapy. These use less paint i believe, and are great for detail which is needed for a good spray job on a car, the down side is the spra area is generally alot smaller then a syphon gun.
Depending on what your spraying + pressures + amount of time actually spraying, do not get a small compressor. Yes I did paint most of a car with a 20litres super cheap one, and it did the job, but we had to keep stopping mid strokes waiting for the pressure to build up.
With the masks you cant go past this:
Sundstrom half face (SR100) with A1 (SR217) and P3 (SR510) filters and a pre filter (SR221)
That’s what I have a work, as well as a SR200A, soon to get the SmallTalk ST2 attachmentI like my PPE lol
With a spray gun, for cars I wouldn’t walk past a DeVilbiss. I have the JGA-670.
Soon to get the CVi-620S as well
Not sure on the CVI but I can get you a JGA for $350. Personally best gun in the world. Remind me of the ak-47, indestructible and just keeps going and going.
Not a huge fan of gravity fed guns, dunno why but they have never felt comfortable. I use them for priming because you can get more paint out of em + big tip size = easyAnd in extreme situations, but if i can i use my suction fed.
With the air compressor, the bigger the tank the better, the bigger the motor the better, as tom said, you don’t wont to be waiting for the compressor to build pressure in between passes. If your going to use it heaps, dont skimp in this area.
Hence why I now have a 225 litre air compressor for personel shed use lol, overkill much?
With the masks do you have a rough price on the one you recommend for cars, and is the one with the eye mask any good for cars?
I remember the first time we painted automotive paint with out the proper PPE. We were stoned for days, literally was funny as kind of, we just laughed for no reason and said weird things. My Missus recored us haha. Anyway was really hard to sleep, and had imperial blue snot for aobut a week lol. Get the BEST PPE you can get before you even look at buying a gun.
Also Banks is their a reason you dont use gravity fed? You have ALOT more experience then me so im curious, as we found gravity fed alot easier and a nicer job, but we only tryed a cheap syphon.
Do you know what a screw compressor is?
We've got a 750lt screw compressor with a dryer at work and its ok, but it needs to be bigger lol
Back in the day when I was like 12, a whole 9 years ago lol we owned a paint shop in Yatala for earth moving equipment (dunno if you have heard of the place Ritchie brothers auctioneers?) anyway they had 2!! 2000lt screw compressors, seriously these things where 2 stories tall. Why 2? Incase one failed, a lot of $$$'s!! With dryers, they had there own back up power supply and everything. I heard all up the whole air system cost close to a cool million…
When we build our new house, were going to take the 750lt screw compressor from work into the new shed, that’s overkill
Because of my type of work, not gloating but I have to have the best. We can’t get around it. Like that half face shouldn't really be used in our worksite but it’s suitable for when we are doing parts. But for when we actually paint the aircraft I use the full face. Better protection, especially your eyes. Over spray in the eyes over 30 to 45 mins of constant spraying has you on the floor tearing, no matter how big and tuff you are. With the masks do you have a rough price on the one you recommend for cars, and is the one with the eye mask any good for cars?

The great thing about the sundstrom masks is that they mould to the shape of your face, so it offerers the best possible protection.
For a car thou, with adequate ventilation I would def go the half face, the full face would be over kill. A half face with a pair of goggles would be suitable.
From memory the half face costs $100, which includes the strap and a box. Excludes filters.
The full face varies from $550 to my one, which cost $850. I got the SR200A thou with the air attachment and the solid laminated glass visor.
Taking note that I bought these masks brand new early last year so the prices have most likely changed. I can find out for you if you’re serious
Car painters swear by gravity fed. I can use both and can get exactly the same finish its just im used to painting with suction. The gravity fed ones are great for cars because the pot is above the gun, so when painting the roof the pot isn't in the way where as suction one it would. Also Banks is their a reason you dont use gravity fed? You have ALOT more experience then me so im curious, as we found gravity fed alot easier and a nicer job, but we only tryed a cheap syphon.
I only use my suction or gravity on small aircraft and parts, with the larger stuff aka 737's, airbus 320's etc, we use graco airless air assisted and electrostatic
@ $25000 for 1 pump and 2 airless guns + $12000 more for 2 electrostatic guns, they are the absolute king of spray painting. We've got 4 pumps, 9 airless guns, and 6 electrostatic guns so our insurance company loves us lol

Damn 750 litres, ok thats definitly overkill, but you will be using yours more then i use my "little" 225 litre lol. At the moment I cant even afford the fittings haha, 133 bux for a regulatorbut once setup it should get used maybe once a month haha. BUT I got this setup cause I paid next to nothing, I would be struggling to pick up a cheap 40 litres one for the same price.
I might look into the half face ones, we got a half decent one which was alot better but its still far from adequate. The full face ones are completly out of budget for my use lol.Because of my type of work, not gloating but I have to have the best. We can’t get around it. I remembr awhile ago I watch a show on the airless spray units, and the amount of people who had died or had permenant injuries from spraying themselves was unbelievable. But a very interesting unit all the same. Im jealous you get to play with for work haha.Car painters swear by gravity fed.
