I have been here for a little while now, trying to gather as much info as I can about various engine conversions for my toyota 4runner 4x4......
i know, i know, its not a holden, but bare with me here... It is going to have a 5.0 EFI v8
Big thankyou to everyone who has given their advice,
It is going to be way to difficult to have the SC6,
keeping cool in the bush ???
Having it engineered here in VIC
and that leaves no choice but to go the V8
I am thinking of putting up a "build-up" thread, so I can show everyone how it is coming along.
I will also need some parts from various commodores, to adapt to the EFI V8,
VT 5.0 engine - complete
153 tooth GMH V8 flywheel
GMH heavy duty 10" clutch
308 short snout water pump
308 twin vee pulley (harmonic balancer)
308 single vee pulley (water pump)
VN/VP v8 alternator with vee pulley
New distributor
VK/VL metal engine fan
VT sump (for alterations)
Advice on any of the parts listed / brand names etc
cheers![]()

Good to see your not doing a S/C 6 and have chosen the V8.
If you havent already speak to "marks 4wd adapters" thats who my mate went through and inthe 4wd community the have a good rep for quality products. They are also very helpful and will do anything to help you with your conversion. If they dont have adapter kits already ring and they will soon make you some.
Also is it possible to mount an engine fan onto a VT motor?
I know thermos arnt practicle because of water, BUT dont 78series landcruisers have thermos, though I may be wrong, but I do remember my mate saying something about it and I dont remember seeing an engine fan on his when it was out.
Hey Tom,
Marks have the gear that I need, but will still need more, as nothing is ever a 5 minute job !!!
I need a "short snout" water pump and a single V pulley in order to fit and run a VK / VL fan(metal not plastic)
I will also use a 14" thermo with on/off in-cab switch, for when I do and don't need it.
cheers,

Sounds like you've got it all planned out pretty well. Definitly do a project thread up.
Do a thread up in the wanted section for the parts, someone should be able to help you out.
I know what you mean about nothing being a 5 minutes job, we bailed on putting a gen3 in the landcruiser, it was just to much work and the cost quickly added up. We got the engine and had Marks designing up adapters when we trial fitted it in the engine bay, quick discovery of how much work is involved, ever with adapters alot of chopping and custom work was involved.
