Default where to get temp sender and oil press T junction

i have 3 gauges for my VS, volts, water temp and oil pressure, but i cant fit them because i need a T junction piece so my computer doesnt cry about no signal, ive been to autobarn and supercheap and they are as usefull as a 3rd nut on a greyhound.

anyone know where i can get said t junctions?

another thing, what size radiator hose does the VS have? because i found this on ebay

Water temp gauge radiator hose sender adaptor 34MM - eBay Turbos, Superchargers, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 31-Jul-08 00:30:35 AEST)

i could use that for my water temp gauge but i dunno how ill get around the oil pressure if i cant find a t junction

It's important to find out what type of thread you need for the t piece. most general agencies carry them, also pirtek and the like.
As for the radiator hose, i'm pretty sure it is 34mm, i used a speco sender adaptor in my vt, worked well, just cut the section out and insert the adaptor.

from memory the stadard thread for the oil pressure switch is 1/4" bsp. most aftermarket gauge senders are normally 1/8" bsp so you will also need a reduction bush as well as a "T" piece to suit. these should be available from any engineering shop. should only be a few dollars.

my gauge came with 4 differant screw plug thingys to go into my engine, and it looks like i have the right size, problem is just that if i put the gauge on and not the sender for the computer ill get an engine warning light.

hey mate i work at supercheap im not useless but i do agree i work with some spastics. We can order in speco T pieces for the oil pressure sender they will be able to look it up on the computer and special order it in, nearly all of our performance products will be calibre branded soon including calibre gauges so our speco gear in my store is half price.

im running my oil pressure gauge without the factory pressure switch and it doesn't set off any lights, but obviously the engine light wont light up when you lose oil pressure but thats what the gauge is for.

Just had a look on my vdo catalogue, which you can also download yourself, its 12MB
il pressure sender for vs is: 231.088 21kpa 1/4”-18NPT blade

The following are tpiece adaptors, possibly the bolded one is what you want:
Part No. Thread “A” Thread “B” Thread “C” Length
    230.031 1/8”-27NPTF 1/8”-27NPTF 1/8”-27NPTF 66mm
    230.032 1/4”-18NPTF 1/4”-18NPTF 1/8”-27NPTF 66mm
    230.035 M14x1.5 M14x1.5 1/8”-27NPTF 66mm

There are others in the catalogue too, including just plain adaptor rings for different sizes.

Go to your local autoparts store and tell them the part no etc, or grab their vdo catalogue and point it out to them.
    230.036 1/8”-28BSPT 1/8”-28BSPT 1/8”-27NPTF 66mm.

personally, I like to run a warning switch(connected to audible buzzer) as well as a gauge.....otherwise a sudden drop may not be immediately noticed.

Using 2 pieces on temp senders, Havent done it myself, but would be wary of lower readings since the sensors are not in the coolant jacket directly. Oil pressure will be unaffected.

thanks guys, ill go see repco and supercheap again today with these part numbers.

gustov - sorry to just accuse all supercheap workers as useless, i have had a few very helpfull employees but for the most part they are just people that have no idea what a car is let alone the parts for them, and thats very frustrating at times.

Here's a rough 'paint' sketch of the adapter I got for my oil senders. In one hole I got the sender to the oil gauge, and in the other hole I got the sender for the low oil light, which is connected to a second shiftlight on my 5".

I got mine from AutoPro, which is mainly in SA. I think it was a VDO fitting, and I also had to get some small adapters to change thread sizes.

Repco had that kind of connection and it will work for my oil pressure, but that wont fit my water temp.

im thinking maybe i get one of them for my oil pressure if i can get the right size, and maybe get the one that goes in my radiator hose for water temp.

trust me mate i know what your talking about there is definetly some shockers that are so frustrating, my assistant manager didnt even wire our sound board right for example. Let alone the others i work with who wouldn't have a clue about most things in the store. So i understand your frustration!

hopefully you come across a team member who is more knowledgable next time.

I'm glad you asked the question though ive recently done a gauge install in my car, but have not hooked up the senders as i was unsure to the thread size. To busy so far to even look as our computers dont tell us thread sizes for specific models
