Hey fellas put my Ride in for her first service ( VxSs 6speed) since ive had her! just over 100 thogh ks runs like a dream no dramas just that time for a tune So yeah my first V8 unsure whats the usaul price for a service or what i should ask to be done on these ? As far as i know nothing is getting done but the usaul oils and what not . So yeah a rough figure would be appriciated as im trying a new mechanic friend of a friend and would like to know i hes doing me well so i can stick with him and what to expect also... Cheers

depends where you go i would say 200 - 400 $

Might be a bit more depends if they use plat plugs in it they bout 100 bucks alone if he does his job properly and replaces them as they due at 100k.

Oil will bout 5ltr quantity of what ever he uses a filter bout 15 bucks maybe a air a fuel filter change if needed so yeah as said above 200-400 just depends on what he finds

I have a VX SS myself had it from new, things like 'Coolant Change' due every 5 years, Brake fluid change - has it been done in the past 2 years, fuel and air filters when were they last done, and the plugs they are supposed to be changed at 80,000km and as someone said earlier they are platinium plugs and quite expensive, some use ordinary plugs and change more often but being an alloy motor I reckon the least times you have to play with them the better, wouldn't want to strip one in the head.
So he could just do a minor service for $150 to $200, or if more is due then $400 or so maybe more the figure.
Probably need to go through the service history of the car and see what has been done and what is due.

Minor service at a Holden service centre will vary from $200 - $300. My last minor service by a Holden dealer was $240 and that was at 100,000km. Non Holden service centre will vary between $150 - $250. One of my mates runs a shop in Lyndhurst so I pay $135 for a minor service.
