hello, just a question i have. whats the connection with chev and holden? like u see chev grilles for the vy's etc and the badges on vs utes and stuff. so yea just wondering if there is a type of connection between the two?? cheers
holden and chev are subsidiaries of GM and share alot of technology. holden uses chev based motors in some cars and some people think that their car is a chev because of this and that is one of the reasons they change the badges
ok then thanks..... i brought some gold chev badges for my vs ute(pictured in my avator) will this look stupid do you think? lol
no, v8 will be stupid considering it would be a 5L and thus making it not even close to a chev motor. but, each to their own i guess..
agreed, that and i don't think the bowtie in the circle looks right
Chev badges are an instant fail
Its a cool looking logo and all but its a Holden not a chev. Its like putting a Nissan badge on a VL.

You can do it. But people will think you are a tool. It's not a Chev, it's a Holden. Maybe if you had a small block Chev in your ute, you could get away with it. Actually nah, that would still be gay.
Stick with the Holden badges mate. Looks better in Australia.

Here, third paragraph, is a start: Holden Commodore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wikipedia isn't really a valuable source of info. I was editing stuff on there just the other day.

Wiki - FAIL.
Chev Badges on a car that's not a Chevrolet - FAIL
You may as well put Ford badges on it. Same thing. A Holden isn't a Ford, nor is it a Chev.
but commisirac relys on wiki, so it must all be true.

Who said anything about Aussie pride? LOL that's a bit silly. I was talking about badging a car as something it's not. Dunno what you are on about, no one said anything about Aussie pride. Try looking up "Cronulla Riots" on Wiki if you want to talk about Aussie pride. This thread is about Chev badges on a Holden.
Umm you actually?
Why would i wanna look up that **** for? couldnt give a toss what a bunch of wogs did.
It a chev motor in a holden, theres the link. Its like tickford badges on a ford, its not tickford, but its a tickford motor.
I FAIL to see whats the huge deal about having chev badges on a holden is? everyone knows its a holden, so where does it say you HAVE to have holden badges on it? A holden body with a chev heart, if you want it to be all holden take the engine out...
Wikipedia is free and you get what you pay for but that's hardly the point here. The cars were sold in some markets as Chevrolet's and the knowledge of which models that encompasses can be used to search for more (more reliable?) info. if that is desired.
To answer "What's the connection with chev and holden?" in the context of Commodores certainly includes that badge engineering.
Does that make it a Chevrolet? To the people in those markets it probably does in the same way that to most people a "Daewoo" Barina is a Holden here.
The holden commodore is sold a as chev lumina in South africa so thats parts true enough.
Me personally i think your a tool for doing it. Its a holden sure it got a chev motor but there's a hell of a lot more to a car than that.
LOL, i said it looks better in Australia because a Holden is an Aussie car, not an American car. Has nothing to do with Aussie pride you corpse. Dear god.
No one says he HAS to have Holden badges on there. We are giving him our opinions, not holding a gun to his head. This thread now gets an official Fail of approval.
Your basing that comment on what?
