    Default next car...

    Hey guys

I'm looking to get a new (used) car in the next couple of months as my VN is a bit on the old side and needs a bit of work to keep it going.
Basically I'm tossing up between a VZ Exec for about $13k, a VZ SV6 for about $20k or a VE Omega for about $20k.

Is the Omega worth an extra $7000 over the VZ?
Is the SV6 that much more fun to drive?
Should i save my money for upgrades and get a VZ?
Or (don't get angry) is the BF Falcon the way to go? haha

Any opinions would be helpful and appreciated.

the ve is far more advancd than the vz and is alot better to drive than a vz sv6 but is also alot heavier its definatly worth the 7g over the vz now to the sv6 its just a exec with sports trim fe2 suspension and nicer wheels and the vz would look sweet with 7k thrown at it as for the bf i cant help you there bud out
    Eureka styles!

The SV6 has the better 190kw engine.

I'd like to stick to a V6 due to petrol and insurance prices (I'm only 20).

the new v8s use about the same as a v6, and probably less than one on the highway. the amount you spend in extra insurance will probably be saved in resale value in years to come. im 20 and am looking for an ls1

I'd go the BF falcon, my work car has not let me down yet, much more comfortable than a Holden to drive, they seem alot quietr inside too. A nice BF XR6 can be had for 15-18k. If you were after an 8 though, cant go past a holden.

Yeah im gonna agree with minux, if you want a V6, get a BF Falcon, the XR6's are pretty decently priced as well. Ford make better 6's than holden.

However what you could do is wait a year or so till your off the P's and get a newer V8. As stocky said, the newer V8s like the VY and the Z will use as much petrol as your VN, and with the decrease in values of the 8's youll pick up a bargain in a years time.

as ive seen through work, the quality of the interior components in the au-bf isnt quite as good as the commodores after a few years, ive noticed a few key areas deteriorating in them,

I'd honestly look into getting a vx series 2 if i were you. there cheaper, the parts are easier to find and are genuinlya better car from experience. in the vy and vz's i have found that although the bodyshape isnt as well liked as the vt/vx but when the afternoon sun hits the dash the sun reflecting off the cluster makes it impossible to read. too much glare! i have to put the melways over the top to read it lol.

Personally I would choose the VZ SV6. But if all you wanted was a newer car that you didn't have to worry about the get the exec. The omega would probably hold it's sale value more than the VZ's simply because they are newer but I would still go a VZ SV6 simply for looks.

I spose you could get a front bar on the VE to make it look a bit better.

i must admit i was worried about a buyin a V8 because my V6 was chewin so much fuel! then i decided i wanted a V8 regardless and got it tuned, couldnt believe how competitive it is in fuel economy compared to the V6! highway it def beats it! and the power OMG!!! V8 chewin through juice these days is such a myth any modded 6 woul use just as much if not more.

No arguments with the insurance as it can be a lot exxy (even that seems hit and miss though!). Just a question - how many km do you do per week/month/year???

???? Perhaps the Omega might hold it's value better however the guy has the opportunity to buy a VZ that has already lost most of it's value already. The exec sounds like a very cheap car to me.

I think around 300-400km per week... my vn's got that odometer problem where it stops working, so i dont know for sure... i was doing a bit over 400 when it stopped working, but dont do as much now. Mostly short trips tho :S
