MY two pack resprayed VS berlina today was converted into a hood ornament for a VP Berlina wagon.
She doesnt have insurance and did not seem well off, i'm wondering how this is going to go down, does anyone have any similar stories and what happened?
she has admitted fault at least, my boot lid is folded in where the number plate is so the boot wont open, the rear bar is a little scrunched and the drivers side quarter panel has hit the rear door and pushed away from the boot lid forming a nice gap.
i'm thinking its going to cost a few thousand for this one.
hopefully I wont be paying it, but I heard a story once that involved blood not comming from a stone, as I said before, I hope thats not going to be the case.
The only advice I can give is approach your insurance company. See what they have to say, usually they will fix your car then chase her for the money. Depending on your policy, it may or may not cost you. My policy has a NCB protector, I can have one 'at fault' claim per year and not lose any NCB. Also the excess is only $100. Sometimes you can go through the motions with your company and sue her civilly for the excess. Contact your insurance and see what they say.
if she doesnt have insurance cant u just get her details and pass them on to ur insuance company? then they fix it all up and its there problem getting the money? thats how i thought it worked.
Your insurance should handle it, thats what you pay them for. I have had a couple of not my fault prangs now where the other party wouldn't tell me who their insurer was. As long as you are in the clear and have the police reports to back it up you shouldn't have a problem getting out of excess bills and policy rating hikes.
Hang on a second. This is where people really annoy me.
She it at fault because she carelessly ran into the back of you. Whether she wasn't paying attention, travelling too fast or too close to traffic in front.
She was NOT at fault because she 'admitted' it. I've been to collision scenes, where again the only reason I'm called is because the parties are refusing to exchange details until someone 'admits' fault.
Admission of fault means nothing. It's what actually happened that determines it.
It's like "You went through a red light, but I shouldn't have been there, travelling legally through that intersection, so it's all my fault".
Do you think a situation like that would be logical?
Exactly right. Report it to your insurance company. They don't just need to know about ones that will end up costing them. In this case let them doing the running around for you, that's what you pay your premiums for.
They'll tell you to get your car assessed, then organise to have it repaired once they approve it. In the meantime they'll chase up the debt with the other party.
While I'm at it, which insurance company is it?
also report it to the cops,so at least they have it on file as your insurance company will most likely ask for it. having said that you shouldn't have to pay the excess from your insurance company will take the other driver to court to recover costs.

most insurance claims need a police report anyways
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Only if the damage is over a certain amount or there is an injury involved.
do YOU have insurance? if so what type, Comprehensive, third party, third party fire/theft?
if yes to Comprehensive, as stated by Vic Cop, give all details to your insurer and they'll do the rest.
if its a no to Comp or you have third party/third party fire & theft you'll have to pay then you'll have to take her to court for damages/money back. if that happens, good luck...
Hey everyone thanks for the advise, VicCop she admitted fault yes and as we had stopped for around 4 seconds behind banked up traffic before she hit us, i'm convinced it's her fault too, its not like I was stopped somewhere I shouldn't be.
The matter has been handed over to my insurance company RACV, I have full comp and do not have to pay excess as I was able to provide all of her details.
For future reference everyone always get the following.
Full Name
Plate details
Contact phone number
Address
Lisence number
time and location as well.
VicCop I didn't mean to "annoy" you I just wasn't really in the mood nor the correct frame of mind to be putting it all down, I offered her the option of me going via insurance or me getting a few quotes as it may have worked out cheaper for her, what can I say, I like to me nice.
As she has discussed with me the amount is too much, so we have agreed i'll go via RACV and she will pay them off over time. it's nice when you can sit down over a coffee with someone and discuss the best outcome for everybody.
Chev badges are an instant fail
Was she good looking? Maybe "rear end" her and call it even....
