Default Lowering, Finally! - Just need to know some things first!

    Hey all.

    First up,

    I have a 2002 VX II commodore.

Still have stock 16" Holden rims and rubber on them.

I got a set of Super low Kings for front (Part.no KHFL 47SL)

    And

Super Super low kings for back (Part.no KHRL 127SSL)

I'm aware the rears are ute springs but have been told they will be fine!

I'm aware i have a IRS suspension setup.

I also Bought a set of front and back Monroe Lowered shocks for my car off ebay. Brand new. Suits irs and my make.

I have concern and worries about toe/camber.

What is best 4 point kit to get and how bad will it be lowering without it with super/supersuper lows.

Also guards rolled. will i have to with stock wheels? they are 225/45/r16, i think.

Need help and advice. hope to get it lowered when i get my major service done in a week.

    Thanks.

    Grant

If i remember correctly i put those exact ute springs in my sedan and it wasnt real low at all. Mine sat approx 20mm above the tyre with a 19inch tyre i THINK from memory. I would be putting at least a KHRL46-SL spring in the back at least to match the front but a KHRL46-SSL height would look nice. Ended up putting KHRL46-SSSL in the back to get the nicest right height. Just a heads up mate!

Ute springs with sit higher than sedan springs, as they are a heavy duty spring to hold more load in a ute

stock as mate, iv done some quick runs before and iv never had it bottom out on me. If iv got 5 people in it i just have to watch the tip and center muffler scraping on speedhump and driveways. Iv done some paddok bashing too lol and never any problems. Just make sure if you get a catback that they tuck it up nicely

a little bit lower than mine would be the pedder sports riders, mine are the touring springs. Iv heard some neg stuff about monroe but in all honesty they have been around for that many years i doubt they could contuine to stay afloat if they produced poor quality stuff.

any lowered spring is going to be a bit bumpy. To be honest i love the feel of a lowered car on the road, feels very responsive compared to the stock stuff. The touring springs i have are pretty firm but the sports ryders are a bit bumpier again.

I love hitting the twisties and iv got the 30mm sway bars and strut brace so its great fun through the hills. I wanted lower alround but when i went back to pedders the bloke their said that if i went any lower i would start to sacrafice my handling. Its very unlike pedders to not want to take your money so i decided that i would keep my handling and give up a little bit og ride height

thanks it. and i am confused whether i should put on the Monroe shock i bought or not. and most of all what springs. some like kings, some hate kings.

im thinking i might sell rear springs and buy ssl rears in sedan form :P

    SSL's arent illegal right?

had a car in at work with kings lowered springs and it drove great, felt like the factory springs, iv decided i'm getting monroe shocks and struts for my vy ss with kings s/l all round, was going to get the gt gas shocks, but noticed monroe have a new gt sport shocks and struts made in conjunction with king springs, so just waiting for the guy in spare parts to come back to work and find out how much then order a set of both, now deciding whether or not i should get a strut brace if so whats a good strut brace to get ? and where from?

and if i should get a better than factory swaybar? and how much, what size and brand? and would i be able to use the factory sway bar links?

Exactly the setup i'm getting, i have parts now, hopefulyl get them on next week

As for the shocks i ended up getting the new ones you mentioned above.

Monroe GT Sport Shocks, paid $300 for front and rear all

As for springs I've decided on sl all round?

    KHFL-47SL

    KHRL-46

Not sure where is best place to purchase the springs tho.

Just go to a suspension specialist tell them what height you want they will tell you what you need if they are any good also find someone who knows what they are doing with the rear camber setup some of them are useless i found Welcome to Wholesale Suspenion, King Springs Sydney!
were helpful and did a good job and knew what they were doing even swapped a set of springs that sat 2 high i purchased elsewhere for ssl for me free

Get the strut brace and sway bars mate. I have a pedders strut brace on mine and 30mm sway bars. Made by pedders also. Goes ****in sweet through the hills.

yeh i think there s/l, go to Monroe - Welcome to Monroe Australia and go to gt sport, and then press onto click here to veiw the application listing and in it look at the table, it gives u the strut and part number then the spring part number (these are for kingsprings to suit the gt struts and shocks) the first column of springs is s/l and the second column is low, this will tell u which king springs u need and the part number. hope that helps u and anyone else looking at them.
