Having a performance car can be great but sometimes things catch on fire (tranny lines, tyre's etc, so i want peoples opinions on what sort of fire extinguisher they use and why. And also where people choose to mount them. Thanks

Fires? Think your looking for the ford forum

Just kidding ford fans, dont abuse me....

I've seen a few cars with the fire extinguishers installed, most just have them installed in the passenger foot well as far as ive seen

I looked on here for some threads but all I could find was mounting issue's. So forget the mounting part of the question. I haven't found anything on what sort people prefer (Foam, Powder). Opinions would be appreciated on that topic.

You would want a chemical foam fire extinguisher (is that what they are called?) as if there is a fire relating to oil or fuel thats really the only sort thats going to work properly.

i was also thinking this a while ago,

chemical powder seems to make a huge mess, would there be a better option to save the powder mess after? co2 type be any good?

but suppose at the end of the day a powder mess is better then a burnt car mess

Yeah you will see which one you need when you look at them. Their clearly marked and normally CAMS approved.
Heres a pic of where mine is mounted.
