Im new to the commodore community and im not sure if ill be here for too long
I have a tow car its a nice commodore vt acclaim setup with dual fuel and a larger radiator and tow bar
I recently broke up with a girlfriend she deicided to do some panel damage to it.
the whole drivers side is bent in and the passenger side has alot of key marks with a nice swear word keyed into the duco on the rear passenger side.
So after alot of thought i figure i better start the internet suss of how to get it fixed, I took it to a few panel shops they all quote around the 3k mark
no insurance so its a cash personal job.
So the question i pose to the fourm is this which option is the best (in your humble opinion):
1) pay some panel shop to repair it and pay the 3k
2) go source some vt wagon doors and just replace the doors with same colour ones
3) find a cheap VT/VX swap over the decent parts and sell the old car cheap with the damage
4) just sell it, its bad karma to keep a car like that
5) try and pull out the dents and give it a home job spray
all the options seem like a pain unless i can source 4 doors of the same colour in sydney
im happy to post pics of the damage if its helpful
basicly the market value of the car doesnt warrant the repairs so im not sure what to do seems i loose anyway i look at it.

would be easier to replace the doors if u can get hold of them. depends if the damage is just on the doors or other panels which are harder to get to.. some girls hay lol

Lucky you broke up now and not after kids and house - she may have burnt it to the ground.
I'd go with just replacing doors & mudgards in the same colour - should not be all that hard to do. The local wreckers may offer a fitting service too which can save heaps of time and effort lugging doors around. Even a front gaurd can be changed in 1/2 hour or so.

3K for to fix the damage? I had my car resprayed and cost was aroun $3500, every panel was sprayed. Maybe shop around a bit more.

If you have any evidence, or reaosnable circumstance, I'd be taking her to the cleaners for the repair bill.

yeh real crazy type, and your right it could have been alot worse im glad i ended it when i did. she didnt touch my other cars so im kinda happy about that

where the hell in sydney do you find VT WAGON doors ? i sussed a few wreckers on the tradingpost but no wagon doors.
i pose the question to those in the know where in sydney are there vt wagons being wrecked ? colour doesnt matter ill spray em

like will a VS/VN wagon door fit it ?
theres nothin like doin a job ur self a whole lot cheaper 2 it's hard work but once finished if it is descent you be able to take pride in somethin u did ur self.
i resprayed a 75 toyota corona inside and out me own custom colour took 3 weeks of sandin and panel beatin before the spray job looked pretty good until i sold and the drivers door got reversed into.if i find some pics i will post them just so u know wat i mean.
if it was me i would be chasing the girl for the quid.
