1) Define "stiff". If you're comparing them to a Hyundai Accent clutch (which, for the record, ALWAYS slip), then yes, they require a bit more leg.
2) Define "loud". VNs have never been quiet cars
3) That depends how good you are with a spray gun!
4) It's high, but you're paying $1160. So you get your money's worth.
5) Start saving to fix things![]()

1. stiff as in dead leg when u get out the car
2. noisy as in a bit rattly/shaky at times
3. when i say can i, i mean im gonna pay the tafe to do it
4. in my opinion 340 xxx isnt to bad considering what some of the guys commos have done on this site.
5. money is always a fun thing
but yeh over all u rekon itll be worth it for 1160
well the price was originally 1800 without rego so i tlkd him down to 900 then rego is gonna cost me something like 260 so compared to what he wanted its pretty cheap![]()
Budget for a new motor too 340,000KM is getting near the end of its serviceable life I would have thought...
See if you can get a leather interior to suit your car, leather is always better than cloth!
Cheers,

well a couple of guys on here have the old vn at around 500 xxx but yeh when she blows in goes the 304 by then i hope to of had some decent experience in the car. Being from W.A theres so engine restrictions on p platers ....... yet. Leather will come way day or ill just get me some statesmen interiorbut yeh the old girl needs an lsd sooner then later
If you plan on keeping it, stick it on LPG Dual Fuel as well - you wont regret it, saves you heaps man!![]()
i dont like the idea of running 6 bangers on gas i heard theres alot of issues with it
1. Stiff Clutch is fairly normal. its 200 dollars to get a new one.
2. How loud? like you can hear. metal clunking etc.
3. Dno
4. Probably a bit high though its a vn. they run forever and when it comes to it. they are cheap as chips to get.
5. Tidy it up. Make sure all the running gear is in good nic. a good service etc
and the reason its going to cost 1100 is because its manual.
i paid 1200 for my manual vn. only to rip the gearbox out of it.
the t5 boxes are worth a pretty penny in good nic.
the gear box isnt bad in itself its not like omg its gonna blow but its a bit rough im thinking that could be coz they hadn't started it in around 2 months n yeh thats why im willing to pay that bit more for the manual more fun and that just gotta find the infamous lsd id rather have a pretty car then a drager![]()
clutch is fairly easy.
you just pull off your gearbox. and pull off the pressure plate to inspect the clutch.
if its gone. you go to the shops and you get a clutch kit which consists of. the clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust bearing
you may also wish to get your flywheel machined while it is out. if it has scoring etc on it.
and if you pull off the flywheel you have to get new flywheel bolts from holden at a price of 5 bucks each. and you need 8.
anything else you want to know just let me know
Thing is to old , save up abit more and look at auctions.

the car is a p plater car and my intentions are to put a 304 in it in the long run anyway so whether or not it blows the car is gonna get a new engine within the year so yeh 5 litres of fun but the point is its manual and theres not a lot of them out there not for so cheap anyway![]()
Buy it. As long as it has a straight body you'll be good for years to comeIf the paint and panel work is all in good condition that's rare for a VN... what's it like on this car? If it's OK I'd be buying.
