T5 gearbox

was wondering roughly wat i should be looking at paying for a average to good condition T5 gearbox

V6 or V8? I bought a V8 reco box out of Sydernee for $1050 (delivered to melb) and sold the old one for $850. (Box and shifter only in both cases). Beyond that everything seems to be a bit hit and miss with the second hand boxes as you never know for sure unless you pull the thing apart.

for a v8...wat are the differences between v6 on n v8 one thanks?

: different bellhousing
: different input shaft length
: different gear ratios

they are not compatible with one-another.

You can buy an adapter to move the V6 T5 back 1.5 inches or have one made. My old boss made one for a kid in town last year and charged him about 200 bucks for it which was probably a good deal for the amount of lathe work he did on it
