Hi all,
Its soon that time gain. In the next few months I'm going to get the next car.
I'm considering two options:
1) Get a sports car (BMW, Merc) and keep the VX Commodore
2) Buy a statesman and trade/sell the VX.
The VX is a great car and with the LPG conversion, runs as cheap as a pulsar. If I choose option 1 I'll keep it as a second car.
But then again... I'm more of the type of person who enjoys luxury over sports so I'm considering trading/selling the VX and upgrading to a WK or WL statesman. This option is more appealing right now. I see them in WA for about $20k - $30k with 50,000km - 80,000km on the clock. Not a bad price IMO considering all the luxuries. Wont get a Merc or BMW with those sort of goods for anywere near that price unless I get an early 90s model (no thanks).
Do any of you have any advice for me? Is the statesman as reliable as the commodore? I will of course convert it to LPG. I'm more-so after the V6 not V8.
Also, anyone got any comments of the Statesman, Statesman International and Caprice range? Caprice is about $5k to $10k more in same condition but is it worth it? No even sure what extras are in the International version.

Hi mate,
I drive a WL caprice (missus car). It is an 8. Very nice roomy car.
Caprice looks a lot better than the stateman on the outside (less chrome, nicer grill, better headlights) and on the inside comes with a slightly better stereo i think (for example more buttons, like antenna up down so you can set it to a height whereas stateman is only all the way up or down). Caprice also has the rear DVD screens and player with wireless head phones.
Personally, for the extra luxuries i would be spending the extra and getting a V8 WL caprice. Also, go WL over WK, has nicer tail lights (and i'm sure other things).

i don't drive one mate, but ur lookin at a nice choice of cars there.
i'm with adamc11, the Caprice is a nicer looking car than teh statesman (no offense to anyone).
i did a quick search on carpoint and this is what i've summarised:
STATESMAN
more chrome, eggcrate style grille, sunroof leather sat nav optional, has brown wood accents, 16' alloy wheels
CAPRICE
blacked out grille and headlights, more prominent sports skirts, parking sensors, leather, 17" alloys, wood replaced with piano black, rear dvd players, plusher more bolstered seats front and rear, rear climate control, rear vanity mirrors, options were sat nav and sunroof
INTERNATIONAL
special edition with LE alloys, statesman seats, no DVD, parking sensors, more stainless steel, caprice style headlights and grille, wood replaced with black chrome, think statesman with caprice front and bobtail spoiler. sunroof i think standard, sat nav optional, most with V8's
there ya go mate. personally, if i had the money for it, i'd go a caprice, just a nicer car for the money. but i'd replace the piano black on the dash with the International black chrome :P but thats me
hope this helps mate
