Hi folks
Picked up my 9/91 Exec 3.8 sedan on Friday. Was a gift from a family member, and I'm beginning to see why. It needs a new rack and pump, aside from other things. I bought a new rack on ebay, but can anyone please tell me how hard/how much a mechanic would typicaly charge to replace these two bits? I've never done anything more complex than a pad change, so I'm not feeling real confident and will have to pay some joker to do it.
Would appreceiate any views. I still think the car is too good to trash, as it's straight and clean and runs ok with 240 little old lady k's on the clock.

A rack is easy to change, well ur their you may aswell grab a new set of tie-rod ends (TRW or another high quality brand), first you remove the tie-rod ends, then the two hydro lines, and unbolt the rack from the k-frame. You can remove the steering column and you may need to, but Im pretty sure you can do it without needing to. Installation is reverse of the above, and a wheel allignment done by a pro, about 45 bux.
The pump, is easy, loosen the belt, remove hydro lines, remove the pump, take the reservoir off, fit reservoir to new pump, install, put the lines back on, and the belt.... Fill and bleed.
