doesn't like line lockys.
its just the trans fluid
the belts need tightening
shift solenoids
wrong box
hi all
ive just replaced my gearbox for the 3rd time in 2 months.
it has a 4HDD box in it.
was working fine before power skidding it and throwing it around corners.
what its doing is just slipping, not changing gears before it hits limiter and hitting over 2000 revs
ive gotten some options from mates and my old mans mates.
this is what they reckon.
1. its an electronic box and doesn't like line lockys.
2. its just the trans fluid, the trans fluids been burnt out and thinned insanely and to try thicker shift fluid.
3. the belts need tightening (been told they don't have belts)
4. problem with the shift solenoids not supplying enough line pressure to stop the clutch packs from slipping.
5. Wrong Box in the VR
what do you guys reckon?
like you all know changing a gearbox is harder than it sounds
and i really don't want to spend Saturdays doing the same **** over again.
so please help me out thanks.
Mel.

My Caprice munched (4) 4L60e gearboxes

As Not another abba fan said, your the reason your car is going through gearbox's.was working fine before power skidding it and throwing it around corners.
Want to spend less time under the car swapping trannys? Here are your choices:
A) Stop treating your car like a V8 Supercar
B) If your going to throw your cars around corners, get a gearbox built to suit.
