if u intend on spending $6500, you could get a half decent VT, a v8 calais VN/ VP a good VR/VS and maybe a VX if u got lucky

but frankly id go a V8 VP Calais

    some options:

    VP SS for $6000

Depends how old you are, are you effected by the new laws? What do you want from the car? Do you want just a run about or do you want some decent power?

The VQ statesmans are nice, you should be able to pick up a good condition one for under say 4 grand which will give you a couple of grand to do either repairs, pay for insurance and perhaps do some light mods.

Theyve got nice comfy seats, as well as power windows and climate control and theyre also a V8 so youve got that power behind it.

    Heres a couple of examples:

    Morton's white VQ Statesman

In lets say 6 months to a years time, when you have the money ready to go shopping, you might even be able to find a nice VS Statesman for around 6 grand... thats a big maybe though as they are still going for around 8/9.

Go for a really good nick VR/VS Calais v6.. Nothing worse than buying something thats dirt cheap and forking out hundreds and hundreds fixing it, when that could have gone to doing up a nice well looked after car..

Take it from my personal experience.. my VK - lemon, my VR - reliable.

Go for a VT mate heaps nicer than earlier commodores... nicer interior and exterior. I'm not really a big fan of the pre VT commodores but if you have to get one get a VS.

go the VT, as for the steering wheel thing; you can fit a VY/VZ leather wheel to the vt without any problems. New clock spring and airbag thats all
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
