G'day guys,
In the process of replacing my water pump, and it would be a nice simple task. Except for the fact that the bolts connecting the pulley to the pump are pretty much welded shut by rust and age. It's never been removed since '93, so that's 15 years of dodgy leaking rust buildup.
I got one off, but the others have me stumped. I'm stripping the heads of the bolts trying to get them off with a shifter, and can't get a socket in there due to the rise on the centre of the pulley. I've used half a can of bolt remover to no avail.
Any ideas? I'm pretty much out. I'm going to pick up my dads angle grinder and destroy them tomorrow, but I would like an easier and less dangerous option.
Cheers guys.
I dont normally have any troubles with these. I leave the belt on so it doesnt spin and use my 1/4 inch drive steup. Dont have any troubles getting a socket on. A spanner is a much better option then a shifter (god damn i hate them) If u got a welder handy you can weld another nut onto it to make it easier to get off.
I hope you can get them off as your going to have to get new ones if you destroy them.
