thanks for the spelling tips..well its not for a commi but it was some thing that i just wanted to know.
Personally I don't like them but they should meet ADR standards as they are stronger than your standard bonnet I think.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car

They are in a different way. This was covered not long ago. But some are ADR approved, some arnt.
The problem with them is they dont bend the way a normal bonnet is designed to, thus changing the crumple zone also they seem to fracture and can have worse sides effect if you hit a pedestrian or something.
they are NOT legal in most states, for the reason above, they do not crumple/bend they shatter and leave sharp edges that can puncture pedestrians etc.
yeah as above. not legal as they wont bend in a crash. will probably just go straight through the windshield into you

Here ya go another dicussion on it:
fibreglass bonnets has anyone got one?
Check with the manufacturer and made sure it is supplied with PROOF of ADR compliance... Personally don't like the idea of a key crumple zone being made outta something so brittle....
If its not ADR compliant your car can be defected![]()
Fibreglass as a material per-se for lightweight body panels is fine however the item needs to be constructed in such a way that it will still comply with all the relevant ARD's. All of that can be done and has been for many years. Just buy one with the correct engineered certification and you will be fine.
Please don't fit a cheapie to your car though. I have smashed up enough boats over the years to know that fibreglass and carbon shards embedded in ones limbs and torso will hurt a *lot*.
