Question making my car a "mauto"

Was very occupied today at work thinking about my car and I came up with the idea of a "mauto" (manual/auto), basically the way it works, rather than pressing the button on the T-bar, you push in the clutch then move the bar up or down....What do you guys think?

Would you like to buy some acid to????

Do you have any idea what the button on the t-bar does. It aint a ****ing clutch, its just a locking pin to stop you knocing it into another gear, while moving.

basically you have your T-bar (see picture), my idea is that, instead of lifting up the button to be able to move the stick up or down (into P, R, N, D, ect...putting in a "fake" clutch and some other mechanics, so when you push in the clutch, the button comes up by its self...

I know how to use a car...

@dijm8 - Would work the same war the boot/bonnet release things work....Little wire cord goes from your "fake" clutch to the pin (with some modification) and when clutch is pressed in, pin come up...

When you put it that way...I'm suprised it's not already on the car...Basically yes it is only for looks...And I dont have the money to convert my car to a manual, and I want a LED Gear Shift Knob...Can't get ones for auto stick

You do realise if you take the T-bar shift off, you can put a manual knob on without any worries. The only problem being is that you can easily knock it out of gear and will make it unroadworthy. My sisters has no t-bar on it for years, was good fun going from reverse straight into drive really quickly lol.

Got the knob just wont go on lol...

@Tom_1569 - Yeah, would rather not do it that way...The car likes to stall if I got from drive to reverse while moving...But yes the other way is quite fun

like a B&M shifter. You can have them manualzed with a handle on the shifter to put it in and out of gear and you just slide it up and down through the gears. But like i said the last powergluide i saw was on a 400cube torana with a fisher 6/71 blower and running 8 second 1/4mile times. Its an absolute dog box and wouldnt be used on your vp

Powerglide is a 2 speed gearbox, very old, and yes can be used for drag racing.
You can have any auto manualized pretty much. Mates got a T350 or 400 cant remember that is manualized.
