damn his expensive.....I got mine WITH the bottom half of the box from Holden dealer for around half of what he wants without the bottom half. Can't say anything about the cut job though.

Yeah it would get more air in, but as far as power gains goes, nothing to flash. You would be lucky to get 5 kw with a CAI on a V6, even with the mouth opened.

yer i bought one from a member here and the opening is a lot smaller than i thought so i thought that a mod like this might be worth it, but would it suck in some hot air? And for the "apparently small" gain it looks real povo haha

it's nota bad price because it includes the K&N filter. grenfoam and others also open it up some. most either cut it a little or use a heat gun and a lump of wood to open it up. don't worry about getting a base as it's easy to just mod your own one to suit

Both of mine are heatgunified to about 2 inches wide I guess, much much wider than stock anyway. I was running both that and a bumper mounted 80mm pipe but last time I raced the car I wanted to see if it would be better with only the front mount pipe (I was looking for a slightly colder charge and some pressure. But even tho it was a stiff tail wind and good conditions for a fast time I didn't quite beat my pb which I set the meeting before in a stiff head wind :!). So I reckon if I had of left the intake how it was I would have been on for a 9.0 that night for sure (it went 9.101 into the big head wind) and midish / low 9.1s with the tailwind and changed cai. Everyone thought it would go 9.0 that day but nup I stuffed it all . I'll fix it properly next time and it will be 100mm to the front bar. Oh yeah I also forgot that I ran 50 weight oil instead of 40 weight also that day which did definatly slowed me down a few horses but I was having pressure issues when hot on 40 weight so I had no option
