    Default My Story

So this morning i filled up..
53 litres, thats what i filled up after having a full tank 2 weeks before to see how far i'd make it..well i made it 264.7km till the fuel light came on
so roughly in my head that looking at around 22L/100km? around there somewhere..so i think i have quite a nagging problem when i comes to economy

    so what i did today.
oil and filter change penzoil 15w40
    two new oxy sensors
    k & n panel filter
cleaned up connections to air flow meter, coolant temp sensor and air temp sensor

hopefully it gets better before i drove it off a cliff?

car is a vs ecotec has 130 000km, auto, driven like a grandma, and a slight gearbox problem

any other tips of what i should do?

    thanks guys

I had a spare computer fan laying arround and stuck it into the air cleaner box, ran the power to the fuse for the lighter socket.

I managed to save about $40 a week in fuel by fanning the cold air into the intake

suprisingly it makes a huge difference, I thought when I did it, it would play up with the oxygen sensor but it did quite the oppisite lol

Gave me better throttle response aswell

My old VS had 200000 plus on it and if you drive it to much like a grandma it uses more fuel than if i drove it slighlty harder. Saying that tho it did Have the rear mufler cut out of it K&N and s/c CAI. It use to average mid 12s lt/hundred around the city.

edit: And it was better in power mode than economy

try getting the injectors ultra sonically cleaned, one or two or more might be clogged, stopping the pintle from shutting

The power mode just holds the revs out longer, your car will rev higher in power mode. It's basically a shift kit. The shift points are revised in power mode. Doesn't give you more power, just holds the revs out longer through each gear. But does make a noticible difference, especially from 1st into second.

My VS Senator shifts mega hard in power mode as well as the revs holding out longer.

as i stated in my 1st post i have a slight g/box problem..gives out a noticable clunk on down/up shift between 2nd and 3rd..with power mode as long i dont give it a gutfull and just let it rev a bit more it seems so shift a fair bit better and smoother

check your trans oil isnt low, The clunk sounds to me like it may be a uni joint problem (worn uni joint maybe)

have you had a compression test done on the auto?
