    Default Stolen Cars

I was just curious to see if anyone on here have had their car or parts stolen before.

    If so,
Did you get it/the parts back?
What damage was done to it?
    Did you call the Police?
Was anyone caught for doing it?

My ex bfs Vn was stolen a while ago and they pretty much got away with it.
My ex Very stupidly left the keys in the ignition in a mates driveway and when he woke up it was gone.
He was lucky in the fact that he found the car. It wasn't burnt out!
Only the Cd player, Tacho and Amp were missing. The only real damage was where someone keyed it and smashed bottles in the back seat.

He called the cops at 8am and they turned up at 1pm. By then My ex had touched everything and the copper said it wasn't worth taking in to be fingerprinted.

In the end no one has been caught for it. I would post pics but he has since sold it and I don't want them to see it on here!

What are your experiences with cars/parts being stolen?

Yeah my cars been stolen. was gone for bit over a week then it got found. I was very lucky. only broken window n ignition. and bald back tyres. The cops didnt give a crap. There is no revenue in it so they dont bother finding who stole it. My car was full of clothes cds and stuff which belonged to the people who stole it, n cops pretty much just chucked it all in bin. even had shopping dockets with times and dates of when they were at shops. thought they would be able to look at video surveillance of them, but cops couldnt be bothered. would rather be out there revenue raising.

when we had our old vc station wagon stolen, we never knew it was stolen, i was awake at 12.30am then went to not long after. then got a knock on the door around 5.30am asking if we loaned the car to anyone or if we know the where about of our car was.. we were like its in the driveway (looked and was shocked it was gone from car port) and the coppa said nah its been stolen and found burnt in the primary school.. that we need to pick it up by the afternoon (on a saturday) lucky our car was full comp and 24/7 claims so they got it towed for us...

then when i went to broken hill nsw i was staying from 10 - 13th october... i filled up with petrol in the corona onsunday the 12th and monday morning the 13th the car was gone, someone stole it and smashed it up, cops said to me i have to pick it up or get it towed somewhere or else they can fine me??? so i had to buy another car while i was there (got a nissan patrol) and then had to travel 15ks out of town to pick it up... and tow it to wreckers... the cops didnt bother finger printing, said it was just kids nothing can be done

My brother-in-laws vy ss ute was stolen. had a trailer on and the trailer was parked in the garage with the door lowered and ute sitting on driveway, they managed to unhitch the trailer and move the car up a hill to start it (dead end road and his exhaust would have woken the neighbours). It was found a week later in Inala (people from bris won't be surprised) with no wheels leather seats cd player or engine...luckily it was fully insured

A close relative of mine had her car stolen (yes it wasn't MY car) she has a 88 model Ford Falcon, they were able to bend the back door to get in her car (although the front door was unlocked ) they started it with the dip stick (Will start almost any ford, and alot of pre 90's Holdens).

Police didn't really do anything, but found her car a week later deserted somewhere, all they wanted to do was joyride. They had broken off the front mirror (which nearly smashed the windscreen), they ripped and put holes in the seats. Didn't take her radio (Not sure what kind but was one of the best you could get back in 2000). Nothing was stolen (they couldn't get into the boot as its broken and NEED to use the key and wiggle and prod...) but if they did there was 1000's worth of car parts and tools...

A mobile phone was found, finger prints were lifted, but cops didn't do anything said "the phone could've been stolen"

I had my VN stolen whilst I was at work, in a carpark right across the road from the local Council.

I reported it stolen to the cops assistance line (the local cops would not attend the scene) and the car was located the next morning (after i spent the whole night bawling and was buying a crapped up rana for $600).

I was atleast expecting the pioneer stereo to be missing, but nothing was gone, at all, cept for a few tools..

Effers stole it, did two armed robberies and dumped it the next morning. There was CCTV footage from the carpark (which they were iffy to release) and footage from a chemist and servo. The cops had it in their basement for a week and gave her back full of fingerprint dust and well the ffers who stole it effd a whole lotta things incl fuel pump so I had to get the old girl towed

The cops were really good with me... Besides taking so long to give her back.
