okay i have a vp v6 auto and im looking to convert it to a manual and a v8 in it what would be the best engine from vn to vt and the best gearbox
and how much roughly would all this cost and getting it put in
If you plan on getting someone else to do the conversion, then at current prices, you'd be best off picking up a VP V8 for around $3000 and just converting it to manual... or better yet, picking up a T5 Vp V8 for around $4000-$5000, and then sell yours.
If you really want to keep the current rolling shell, then perhaps you're best off buying a manual VP V8 and swapping stuff over. A 304 + T5 on ebay will set you back around $2000, and then maybe $2000-$2500 again for someone to install it all for you. The catch being, after that, you don't have anything to sell, as opposed to when you buy a whole V8 car, and then sell a whole V6 car.

If your after the best motor, i would say the vt 5.0ltr is best as i has better setup for the valve lifting and it has a few other things that make it better and a bit faster than the older models. Then put the T5 behind it. But as above, buy the cheapest whole car and swap the motors and boxes and you have no surprise extras to buy as its all there, then at the end you can sell the donor car with your old six in it and get some cash back.
